    Default Colecovision Roller Controller Happiness!

So today I took apart my good ol' roller controller to try a bit on cleaning it up. It was moving quite rough and just started to tick me off. I unscrew all of the screws on the bottom of the unit and pull it apart. At first I got kind of worried, since I see a few metal rollers just laying there...apparently fell out from wherever they were laying when I took it apart. Well, after looking at it for a minute or two I can see where they need to lay. Very simple actually. There are these little round metal wheels with ball bearings inside on each one of the metal rollers. Two on each to be exact. And one other in the upper right corner of the track ball. After cleaning out the entire inside and ball, I tool these wheels and sprayed them with a little bit of WD40. Put everything back together and all I can say is WOW. What a difference. I don't even think it worked this well even back when I first purchased the roller. Maybe you guys have already done this and all is said and done, but this was my first time opening this unit. I am super happy now. Back to Centipede!

    Cool !

That is great, I haven't got a Roller Controller yet. We need a forum for this stuff, so we can begin to accumulate these tips in one place. Maybe make a repository of this info.

I'm learning as I go. Fixed two DC's today! WOOT!

    Default Welp...

I took apart the colecovision console today as well since I saw little "snow-like" specks on the screen here and there while playing. Boy, it is a pain in the ass to get the thing apart at first. Now I pretty much have it down to a skill. I unscrewed the metal plate covering the mainboard, then simply popped off the plate covering the rf modulator. Then blew the hell out of it with compressed air. Put it all back together (hint to anyone taking one apart: DO NOT tighen the screws on the bottom of the console too tight, or the power switch will be SUPER hard to move!) and then tried it out. Bam, no more fuzzies! Looks amost as good as a true video out really. I love doing this stuff!
