    Default trip to portland

I'm driving from davis, CA to portland, OR and was wondering if anyone had any places to recommend for NES/Genesis type stuff.

Unrelatedly, I just got back from Flagstaff, AZ, where I found very little activity.

    Thanks

Try and locate one of these.

    CD Game Exchange
    NE Portland - 2735 NE Broadway St - (503) 287-0382
    SE Portland - 1428 SE 36th Ave - (503) 233-1708
    SE Portland - 2604 SE 122nd Ave - (503) 761-0312
Software, Hardware, Periferals, Loose and CIB. These 3 stores are preety much all you need.

Most of the Game Crazys around here have NES/Genesis but 99% of the time it's loose carts, even the Genenis games! Not so good if your into CIB collecting

Any goodwill you can find and they're everywhere!
Slim pickin's most of the time but from time to time a smoking deal shows up.

    Save some stuff for me!

evilmess beat me to it. I've spent way too much money at CD/Game Exchange.

Note that the the sign at the store on 122'nd will read "The Record Exchange." For some reason, they never changed their sign when they changed their name. But it's the right place.

I've only found a CIB Genesis item at Game Crazy once - a Game Genie, which I immediately bought. Still worth a visit though, if loose stuff doesn't bother you.

The Software Etc. at Clackamas Town Center still has some NES and Genesis stuff left, but I'm sure they're down to the cream of the crap.

    Enjoy your stay in Portland.

there is a CD Game/Exchange in Eugene a little ways of I-5. Its on the corner of 11th and Willamette Street. Nothing really good, I was down there today. Lots of Loose NES games but i already have them all. You might find something.

You will have better luck in any town that is at least 20 miles from Portland. Most thrift stores in Portland don't get much in and when they do it is gone in minutes.

Not really any NES/Genny stuff, but if you're in downtown Portland you might as well check out Ground Kontrol, (Clay Cowgills classic arcade) at 610 SW 12th Avenue.

Lived in Portland as a kid. Last time I was there (1983ish), Atari was in it's hay day...

For random stuff to do the zoo is okay and should have some silly science museum next to it...

The "silly science museum" (OMSI, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) moved about 10-12 years ago. It's on the waterfront now and they have a submarine that was used in "The Hunt For Red October". I haven't been there in a few years but they used to have a heart you could walk through, a real NASA space capsule, and a nice collection of human fetus'.

The new OMSI is pretty cool if your into science and industry stuff plus they have an Imax theater, but never anything good like say... ooohh... SPIDERMAN 2! The history of computers feature at OMSI is pretty darn cool for 5 or 10 minutes. It's still a kids educational museum overall but an adult could kill a couple hours exploring the place.

I'm not sure if it's on your way to Portland, but the small town of Madras, OR (Right in the middle of Oregon) had a video store called Hollywood Stars Video there that had tons of $5 boxed/complete NES games back in 2000 while I was living there. Who knows, they might still have some

Awesome! Do they still have the timber museum?
