Default Thinking of collecting Sealed PS1, what are some rare ones?

I am going to start collecting ps1 games, specifclly sealed ones.

Which are some standout games that will help me start off my collection?

( i dont want sealed gh madden games or whatever, some truly hard to find stuff!)

Most of the squaresoft/enix/WD rpgs would be my pick.

    Final Fantasy series
    Lunar Sets
    Suikoden I & II
    Xenogears
    Elemental Gearbolt
    Vandal Hearts series
    Vanguard Bandits
    DBZ Final Bout (Original)
    Valkyrie Profile
Doom (Longbox...or most any longbox game)
    Diablo

Those are a few guesses at some standout games that are going to be VERY expensive sealed.

If you plan to go down this road, be prepared to save alot and get little. These things sealed cost a fortune as it is, and its going to take HUNDREDS just to get one or two games sealed (if you can even find them)

Well any RPG's are worth their weight in gold. Take for example a not rare game in FF VII a sealed non-GH copy can easily pull 200+. Another semi-sure bet (in so as most are still cheap and will only go up in price) is any longboxed game. Those are getting to the point where they are almost impossible to find even in decent used condition.

My question for you is why do you really want to do this? This isnt going after a genre or even a specific developer/publisher. It seems that you want to try and do this for a nice kickback in the future (looking to try and send ur kids to college?). I often see the sealed market as a really risky gamble. that only serves you well if your the seller on eBay. If you are going to spend that kind of money on an unopened PS game, there better be a real good reason. Good Luck, your going to need it because this is going to be a really longterm thing for you (even more so than a PS collection in general).

If you have questions about rare PS games or anything just jump into our PS thread, its usually floating in the first few pages here in the VG forum.

In case you dont know, if your going to try for a sealed collection for the PS, your looking at 1270+ games
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

    Castlevania Chronicles, of course! :D

    Suikoden isn't that common, either.

I'd get Einhander and ThunderForce V if you can find them (probably better luck with TFV, really)

You'd be nuts to want to collect sealed PSX games. It's not a stretch to say that sealed PSX collecting is, price-wise, similar to sealed NES collecting at the moment, with even more potential to increase.

Even relatively common games are expensive - my bud just sold Darkstalkers, a game worth under 10 in normal circumstances, for 72US sealed.

If you did want to get into sealed PSX, though, I have sealed copies of Grandia and FFIX (non-GH), which would be a solid start. PM me if you were interested.

I went to a few game shops, and I found a couple of sealed games: Vanguard Bandits, Alundra, and Metal Slug X.

    Vanguard bandits was $40
    Alundra was $40
    Metal Slug X was $25

I didnt pick any up, cause I wanted to see if the prices are right.

For the reason as to why I am collecting Sealed ps1 games, its because I really have nothing to collect. I play my Saturn, Neo AES, and Gamecube, but dont collect for any of them.

So basicly, I just need something to collect. * places bid on sealed FF7 original*

Pet rocks would be cheaper, and just as useful as sealed games.

A sealed Metal Slug for 25 is a good price, however its such a great game id want to play it. The other ones sealed is what they went for new and a sealed Vanguard is a nice find. Hell a sealed Alundra is nice too. I still find it hard to collect the good games for a system and only go after them sealed.

    Its your call.

hahaha...good point.....i guess i feel exactly the same...unless you have 2 copies, why keep a game sealed....that completely defeats the purpose of it....you wouldn't leave a cartoon of milk in the fridge sealed forever, so why leave a game sealed....open it up and enjoy it
