It's a fake. DO NOT give them any information at that link.

BS... don't do it. Forward the email to: spoof@ebay.com, they will let you know if it's legit or not.

First off, they didn't use your real name. Possible emails from Ebay should begin "Dear John Doe," I believe.

They have all that stuff on file. The bastards trying to take advantage of you do not.

Can anybody else offer any other suggestions as to how to spot this as a fake? I would say the begining is a dead give-away.

Take this test. It'll help you learn how to spot a fake.

I can guarantee you it's fake and that you submitted information to some person trying to steal your information. Others who have posted here are correct, however, there is also 1 golden word which is always spelled wrong and is always a giveaway:

    They spelled "received" wrong.

Best rule of thumb when getting suspicious emails: take a look at the link you're being referred to. Pretty easy to see it's fake when the mail links you to an unlinked IP, and not, say, https://www.paypal.com.

Like I said, when in doubt just forward to them and they'll let you know. The first time I got one of these I knew something was up because it was sent to my buying id and mentioned selling items.

Heck, I get them from Citi Bank all the time and I don't even bank there. Stupid a**holes.

I get these all the time. They're just "blanket" e-mails mailed out to ALL hotmail/Yahoo users.. hoping they reach someone who has an actual account.

Another dead giveaway: They sometimes say they are going to suspend your account (i.e. no bidding or selling activities allowed) UNTIL you answer them. Just go to your "My eBay" page and see if you can still bid.. I always can.

I've gotten spam from myself. Spoofing an email address isn't hard.
