My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
In my REVIEW of Tempest 2000 I stated that the Jaguar version was better than the PlayStation version. Well, as time goes by, I find myself going back to the PlayStation version of Tempest (X3) time and time again. There's a code in the game that allows you to unlock the original Tempest 2000 game, though the music samples aren't complete for some odd reason.
Final analysis: Tempest X3
PS: you forgot Tempest 3000 (NUON) in your poll! Not that I think anyone would choose that over the others...
Ya know, the only reason I bought a Nuon controller was for tempest 3000. And the only reason I couldn't play Tempest 3000 was because of the controller. Go figure.
Anyways, I have to admit I haven't played Tempest on the PSX, but I just don't see how it could have improved over the Jag version. Unbelievable soundtrack, great soundFX, Unbelievable bonus levels, Mind-numbing graphics overall, No load times. I could just go on and on..... I think as far as Tempest games go, it stopped there.

Me!
Tempest
I was stoked when I got Tempest 2000 for the Jag. I heard so much about it and it lived up to the hype. However, for lack of space and my interest in the Jag waned-but Tempest forced me to keep the system. I discovered Tempest X3 at a shop in Green Bay. Snagged it, tried it, loved it. While there is load time, the graphics seem more psychodelic than in the Tempest 2K version. The music sounded more crisp (to me anyway). I found it a superior replacement.
Tempest 2000 for the Jag was best...the controller just sucked. So I must vote Tempest X3
Both x3 and 2k have their merits, x3 has more "stuff" since it's on CD (more levels, all the audio), 2k has slightly better gameplay and the bonus levels are actually playable!
But get both really
Cheers,

The Jag version was good but my favorite was the full size arcade version. I blew at least a C-Note on that sucker back in the day.
