Default Help me find a fantasy fighting game?

I'm looking for this shareware DOS game, probably circa 1990 or thereabouts. It had terrible play control and I suspect the computer cheated but it was still neat for one reason or another.

The premise is that you're managing a coliseum and can pick from a roster of fantasy creatures (winged lizard men, spider elves, trolls, slimes, etc.) to train and fight each other. What was cool about it is that you could control them in a Final Fight-esque battle, or even set up a 20 player battle royale. What sucked is that most of the time the computer kicked your ass because it was relentless and behaved like its attack button was on turbo.

It was definitely a low-budget piece of work, Google isn't helping much since it's pointing to another, more recent coliseum simulation game. If I could just get a name it'd probably help a great deal.

Could it be Mondu's Fight Palace (AKA Tonge Of The Fat Man)?

Nope, to give you an idea of the game's graphics, Tongue of the Fatman's were much more polished.

What was the perspective? Overhead? Side"scroll"? Pokemon like? Was it Apogee style? Sierra?

I probably can't help you, but we'll see.

Apogee style is probably most appropriate, the battles were held in one-room screens at a sort of 2/3rds perspective. Like Street Fighter 2, only you could move around ala Final Fight.
