Hey Joe,
I ordered mine on the 23rd of August, any idea how close the guide is to me. I'm going crazy waiting for it!

All I can tell you is that it's definitely been shipped. Brian says he's got everything ordered up through 9/10 out the door (except for a few overseas orders) as of last night.Originally Posted by Jestr

Ah! This is driving me nuts! I paid like 5 minutes after the annoucement was posted on the front page. Maybe next time you could offer up priority if people are willing to pay? I've gotten the other guides really fast in the past (hey, that rhymes!). I keep waiting since finally going through and updating this thing with my current lists will take quite some time. Now I have that set for Saturday..... again.
No sign of mine yet.

As I'm sure I've mentioned - contributors and staff were mailed out after all of the pre-orders. I'm sorry you had to wait but that's just the way it goes. Should be there any day.Originally Posted by Kaine23

Now.. I got a question - why was the TG-16 included in this release and the original guide's release?
Two reasons.Originally Posted by icbrkr
1. From here on out, it's being considered a "post 8-bit era" system, hence, inclusion in the Advance guide.
2. Lots of work went into the PC Engine section, as well as re-vamping the pricing of the original guide, which was hideously off.
I was happy to see mine in the mail. It reached the Great White North safe and sound. I'm really enjoying it so far. I gotta say the color scheme for the cover looks great. Now I have something to read in place of the hockey box scores.
Lazy bums. I traveled across the entire United States (coast to coast) to CGE to get mine. It was well worth it.
Anyhoot -- kidding aside, the wait is worth it. Great book. It kept me from crying my eyes out while flying.
well, you can get almost any game.com game for 1-3 bucks at ebay (or at least you could a while ago), so i suppose thats correct
Is the first to admit I paid $75 for a Game.com... with only ten games a couple years ago.
Oh I'm a dick.
I got mine a few days ago and have been enjoying it. I especially like the remembrances...the E.T. story especially...many of us didn't realize why back then that it was all that bad. I wish I had a great gaming story to tell but my gaming life has been fairly dull...maybe I'll think of something sometime. Since I've been buying games for some of the later systems of late, this guide will definitely help me plan future purchases. I'm especially glad to finally see a complete Playstation list. Maybe I'll even look for a few more Jag games?
Anyone else still waiting by chance?

Most of the contributors and Lore Contest winners are still waiting. We're getting there, though.Originally Posted by Kaine23

Yeah, I noticed a few cut-off paragraphs here and there, and the lack of pricing/rarity on certain things, but what must be remembered is that this is the first edition of this effort. In fifteen years, we'll all look back fondly on it and say, "Remember when you could buy a PlayStation 1 for $10?"
The only thing I saw as a glaring omission was the lack of hardware and accessories pricing in some sections -- mainly for Game Boy and Game Gear, but others seem to be slightly lax in this area as well. Lack of info, or just too much work dealing with cartridges alone?
It's okay -- Joe's going to be shot anyway, so I'll rest easier.
In all honesty, though, it's an awesome book. At least as great as I'd expected, and the future potential is huge. I'm more than willing to help out with the book's improvement in any way that I can, too.
One futuristic thought -- any plans to do a "portables-only" edition? Starting with the Microvision and ending with GBA or N-Gage. That way, you could add in all the Nintendo/Tiger handhelds and the Coleco/Entex mini-arcades as well.
Active systems owned: Wii, X360, PS3
Inactive systems owned: RCA, INTV2, NES, SMS, Genesis, Lynx, SNES, Saturn, PS1, GBC, DC, PS2, GBA, Xbox, GC, PSP, DS
Systems wanted: Coleco, 7800, TG16, GG, 3DS, Vita, WiiU
I must agree - though I will also say that I have no interest whatsoever in pricing out hardware, especially peripherals. I should probably be more interested in it, but I'm not, and as one revered reader said long ago "as Joe goes, the DP guides go". It's always been about the games to me, and as such that's all I really badger the other editors about.Originally Posted by Duncan
We're pretty close to such a thing, but before that would come an "import guide". Really, I ended up cutting out so much excellent import information (take a look at the Super Famicom section or the PSX imports or the Saturn PAL section fo the database for a hint) that it truly deserves its own book. I'm recharging now - and come the start of 2005 I should be an Energizer bunny of projects. Hang in there and your hopes will likely become a reality. We certainly have an incredible team of contributors. One futuristic thought -- any plans to do a "portables-only" edition? Starting with the Microvision and ending with GBA or N-Gage. Thanks for the feedback!
I have been going crazy for weeks waiting for my copy and there is still no sign of it! I was not a contributor, so is there a chance that mine got lost or sent to the wrong address?Originally Posted by digitalpress

Still waiting here in Illinois
I know the post office here is slow, but this is getting downright weird.
Let me know if you need an address check.
Got mine today, and I love it! Awsome work Joe (and everybody else involved)
this guide is fantastic!
i dont mind the cut off sentences so much, but there are a whole bunch of typos....someone should read through and correct them. just a pet peeve. i understand you cant very well run this thing through a spell check, as every 5th word would come up as incorrect....
as for the content, ive been reading both guides since i got them and am quite impressed by all of the knowledge. i knew you guys knew your stuff, but damn! i cant imagine how much time has been put into each section. researching 500+ games? on the new systems may not be as difficult, but the older stuff has got to be horribly time consuming.
anyway, keep up the good work guys!
p.s. i have some game gear games not in the guide. anyone know who i can contact?
