    Why, this is ebay related just as much as its proto related. I'd say either forum is appropriate.

    there's a "protos in the news" thread in the proto forum where protos on ebay are meant to be posted.

    sorry guys !

    If somebody can move the topic to the proto section, that would help.

    I don't know if you saw David Winter's post on RGVC, he was not very sure about the "serious" of this proto.

    I didn't see this... Can you summarize?

    I assume it's legit because of who the seller is.

    No offense here but since when did David Winter become an authority on 2600 protos??? To me that's like asking an electrician if he can tell you how to fix a leak.

    here's his post on RGVC
    =================

    Having collected video games since many years, I have seen quite a lof of fake prototype boards.

    This Shooting Arcade game dates 1990 as you know. However, all chips on board have 1983 date codes, which is very strange. Most of the time, prototypes have chips dating around the same period. Not 7 years between the logic gates (74xxx chips) and EPROMS (27xxx chips).

    Plus, the NEC Eproms look very new, so I'd rather think it's a 1983 proto board with recent EPROM copies put on it so as to fake a real Shooting Arcade prototype.

    If I were you, I would be really careful about this. People are ready to do anything to make money nowadays so make sure you're not getting ripped off by someone who claims to have bought a stock of stuff without knowing what it is exactly. When such an auction looks like somebody who doesn't know what he's selling, people are more aspired to bid because they think the guy doesn't know what he has, hence less chances that the stuff be fake.

    BE SURE THAT YOU WANT THIS ONE.

    I'll personally not bid any longer on this auction, yet it could be a
    genuine board. All other protos I have seen so far had chips with date codes of around the same period. I have never seen a 7 years difference between the logic chips and the eproms. Plus, who is not looking for 2600 protos ?

    I've seen alot of fake prototypes in my day, but I've never seen a fake with one of the larger "SARA chip" boards (they're very uncommon). I think this is one of the 10 copies of Shooting Arcade that Best sold back in the mid 90's (those look like their blue stickers). AFAIK those protos were legit (some of the few legit protos Best sold). I'd be very surprised if this was a fake.
