    Default Namco Museum(s)

Can someone list all the versions (volumes) of the Namco Museum - and list the games that come in them:

As far as I know: There are 3 Playstation Titles (Vol 1,2,3) ...one GBA title...and one GCN/PS2/Xbox title

However no clue what games come in what - and where they overlap...and also no idea if I'm right about the amount of titles in the first place.

    Plizzz help!

There are five Playstation 1 Museums in the US, and a sixth volume in Japan. Additionally, there is a major difference between the US and Japanese versions of Volume 2. You can check out some reviews, lists of games, and screenshots here if you like.

Another question...as to the 5 PS1 volumes I noticed that 1&3 stand out from 2,4,5 pacage wise

2,4,5 are just red & white - big letter
1,3 has screens from games and letter in the middle

    Is this normal?

There's also one for Dreamcast, but I forget what games were on it. I think there's Ms. Pacman, Pole Position, Dig Dug and something else.

Originally all 5 volumes for the PS1 were released with the "letter" covers, and the Namco Museum Encore cover from Japan matches that scheme as well. The 'screens' covers you've seen are Greatest Hits re-releases.

Ok, I'm pretty sure it goes like this.

The original 5 volume releases sported the big namco letters.

Afterwards, volumes 1 and 3 were re-released (non-gh) with covers showing each of the games. These two volumes were the most desired because they featured pac man and ms. pac man respectively, hence the re-release.

Later, volumes 1 and 3 were re-released as greatest hits titles with the same cover as the earlier re-release.

So there are three package variations for Vols. 1 and 3? I guess I've never seen the original releases.

The original 1 and 3 are no more expensive, but you'll have to hunt a bit on ebay/in the wild to find them. It looks much nicer when you have the true set.

Compared to 2, 4 and 5, it's easy to find the original 1's, though. 2, 4 and 5 are fairly scarce.

2, 4, 5 and Encore were my favorites. I loved the obscure Japanese titles on them.

I just found a complete and mint Vol. 5 at Gamestop last week for $12. The only games I really cared for on it were Metro Cross and Pac-Mania. Dragon Spirt is okay but it's way too hard for me. Can't understand why Baraduke is on there though. Reminds me of a bad NES game.

I've been trying to get my hands on a complete copy of Vol. 4 for years. I've got one of those old Sony dual analog joysticks that I'm *dying* to use with Assault.

I was thinking there were two Jap releases?

Did Encore come with the larger box to hold the other releases or was that something else? Maybe it's vol 2 Jap, but I seem to recall two notable Jap versions.

Also I've never seen release 1 or 3 without the GH packaging. Although, I have seen some GH where it's mearly a sticker on case or shrink I forget now, and not on the case itself. But these two games I've only seen as original big letter, and the above mentioned gh artwork.

Sad, isn't it, that you can get the millionth version of Pac-Man for dirt cheap, but the games that you can't get elsewhere are so expensive? :(

There was an edition of Encore (or perhaps it was seperate, I'm not quite sure) that had a case that would hold all six volumes. Namco had enough great games to warrant another few volumes, that's for sure. Splatterhouse, Rolling Thunder 2, Dig Dug 2 and so on... those would have been great to see as part of the Museum series.

It's true, the original versions of 1 and 3 did have the "letter" cover. I could never find them for sale like that, although I have seen them both (in a Blockbuster, of all places).

Aussie - That is sad. I loved The Genji And The Heike Clans, The Legend Of Valkyrie, Grobda, Dragon Saber... but I didn't love King & Balloon. Ack.
