they had to stick to the november release date somehow...
i figured months ago if it had online support, people would be seeing it in 2005.

i agree...that type of game doesnt need online support, but im sure a lot of ppl are going to be mad about this....although i doubt it will make much of a difference or hurt sales since the fan base is pretty big with the GT series and they will probably buy this no matter what they hear about it or what features are or are not included

Yeah, I guess it just gives the bashers something else to pick at, and the whiners something else to complain about.Originally Posted by tholly

For the ones that don't mind this. Do you play any racing games online? I am curious because this is a big deal breaker for me, I won't buy a racing game that doesn't have online. And neither will alot of others at least judging from what I have read so far. But to each their own I guess. I just can't see what is so hard for them getting this online.

650 cars, 50 tracks, all life-like in modeling. Add in tighter physics, a few re-tooled game elements, and I can assure you getting all that to work perfect online would be a lot of work. And if they want the game out by Christmas, it'll have to wait. I'd rather have a good online mode than a rushed one, wouldn't you?
Personally, I prefer games that are a bit more arcadey for online if they use standard cars, like PGR2 or Burnout. If its simuation-like online, I want something customizable like Need for Speed Underground or SRS.

except a good game of TOCA2.
I was really excited about this game guys. This No Online support is really gonna make me consider not getting it now. Fuck!!, I really dont think I will, maybe just a rental.
Great Job Sony...
I was really looking forward to the online features but of course ill still buy it...Then the online Gran Turismo next year... *sigh*
No online support? wtf, that really sucks! I don't want to play that boring AI, i want to race a real race! Looked so much forward to that
In first i disliked the Xbox ... but with this stupid Sony action i'm gonna buy one and i'm gonna play Forza Motersport ONLINE!!
oh, and PS3 will be shipped at launchday with BBA and a copy of GT5 Online .... :P
True, But it still would have been awesome to have GT4 in that mix.Originally Posted by buttasuperb
The online part of GT4 should have been a big part of the Sony online machine trying to counter Microsoft's Live service. Forza Motorsport looks like it might actually be a GT killer, or maimer anyway. With the online aspect taken out to be an add-on like Twisted Metal online seems like they just have no idea what how do online correctly. Forza is a sim racing game, with car damage, and although not as many cars or tracks as GT4, it does have that interesting career mode where you can take any car and build it anyway you want. GT4 plays & looks like GT3 with more cars. Gran Turismo is slowly becoming an afterthought to me, and I never thought that would happen.
Between Forza, Midnight Club 3, and NFSU 2, I'm not sure that GT4 will have anything other than more cars than the competition. And all of these will be online. I don't want this to sound like I'm "complaining or whining" to all those GT nuts out there, just wanted to throw out the fact that other companies seem to be able to do this, why can't Sony?
since we are on the topic of GT4, i know i have asked this before in the buy sell forum, but anyone have a copy of that demo disc that they can sell me cheap....i refuse to overpay for something on ebay that i know people got for free
