I think accountants used those to tally up tax returns in the '50s.
There are very few dedicated consoles considered "rare". Radofin was a gigantic manufacturer in the late 70's and did a number of these Pong-style units as well as handhelds. They also produced a vast number of the Interton cartridge system's game library.
You can find out more about Radofin here.

It's not my area of expertise - this is something that Sly DC, ChristianScott or ianoid would have a better handle on, but my general guidelines, taking into account the kind of unit it is and the manufacturer, about $8USD.Originally Posted by cauterize

why is this considered a dedicated console???? i can see at least two cartridges on the pic, seems cartridge based to me...

You're right - I'm basing this off of the Radofin Tele "series". Looks like they added carts to the system by the time they got to IV (similar to what Tel-Star did here with the Tel-Star Arcade). Like I said, not my area of expertise, I'm sure one of the boys can give a more accurate description and assessment of value.Originally Posted by hydr0x
Isn't this another version of the Hanimex/APF/Acetonic etc family of crappy early consoles? Or am I getting my awful early 80's machines confused?

I've got one of those Tele IV machines. It was a UK machine, judging from the 220v plug, and because of this, I hgavent' been able to test it. I do believe that all of the cartidges were pong variants tho...
If you need anything more specific, I can check out my unit when I get home.

The moral is, don't **** with Uncle Tim when he's been drinking!
It's one of the MANY systems that used the General Instruments game chips on cartridges (the system actually has very little to do with the games, but mainly controls just the power and TV connections). There were a variety of cartridge shapes/styles; the one picutred is one of the three or four most common styles.
I think they're kind of cool, but they're not worth a WHOLE lot, as there are way too many variations on it, and they're not really very interesting.

if you ever go to CGE i'm sure ianoid would buy it off you. He took the two wierd looking ones off my hands for i think 3 bucks. I was about to throw em out... but i knew there was hope and that someone out there (other then the dump) would appreciate them more then me. Dedicated consoles are cool, just not my type of thing. An interesting find though. I would have bought it if i would have seen it... but then again i buy anything video game related if it is a good deal.

Thank you, I AM the dump. For video games. To poop on!Originally Posted by Qixmaster
My assessment is that set is worth around $20. Which puts you in a bad predicament with shipping, because if you live in AUS or the UK, it will cost at least $25 to ship here. $45 is a major stretch.
