Default I Have a Halo XBOX and I Need Advice on Selling It

I have a limited edition green Halo Xbox that has never been opened and I'd like to sell it on eBay. Essentially it's the "Tickle Me Elmo" for gamers for this holiday season. The first question I have is what is the best time to put it up? November 9th Halo 2 comes out, so I was thinking it might be good to put it up right before the 9th. The next question is whether to set it up as a BIN or not. I've watched several auctions for these end in NPB's and I don't want to have to go through this. By doing a BIN the buyer would have to pay right away, but I haven't had as much luck with BIN's in comparison to just listing stuff at a penny with no reserve and letting the bidding decide what price it should sell for. The final question I have is about returns. I've been accepting returns because I want people to be happy with what they get, but with this I could see someone buy it, open it up (which of course hurts the value), decide that they just don't want it and try to return it. I was thinking of stating that I will take a return as long as it's not opened. As soon as they open it up, it's theirs to keep. What's your thoughts on this? Thanks in advance! Michael

My opinion is if someone uses the buy it now you probably could have gotten more money for it. But ebay is kind of hit and miss anyway, so if you set a decent buy it now I'm sure someone would snap it up. There seem to be a lot of Halo systems on the bay right now, don't you want to wait awhile so it will go up in value? I think my Best Buy still has a few of these for sale on the floor.

If you want, reserve a special edition of halo and throw it in with the auction. That might help.

Ask classicgamesdepot (classicgamerdepo.. something along these lines)
if he agrees with that statement. =)

If you do know of a store that still has them in stock, I'd definitely snag one because honestly they're impossible to find anymore. I called all over town to find a store that had some in stock, and that was a long time ago. From what I understand, they are completely sold out everywhere. I just put it up on eBay starting at a measley penny with NO RESERVE. Here's the link:

    Thanks for the advice. Michael

I've never seen an auction that actually showed the peanuts the package will be shipped in.

Nice pictures, though. You should make a nice profit.

I need more sage advice from experienced eBay seller's. I have someone now bidding on the Xbox who has a 71% feedback rating (2 negatives, 5 positives). Here's the link to his feedback:

    http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAP...d=crazyspartan

He's not the high bidder, but I'm thinking about cancelling his bids and placing him on my block list because eventually he could be. The last two buys he's made on eBay have resulted in negs. From looking at his feedback he did in fact pay for an Xbox on eBay and he received positive feedback for it. He sent me this question as well:

"i'm willing to pay $200 for this system, my green xbox like this one just broke, and i need one quick. i need beofre halo 2 comes out!"

At the least, I'm going to respond to this and say no side deals, and that the auction will go to the end. Should I block him? I don't want to be rude about this, but I also want the sale to go well.

    Thanks! Michael

    It's not being rude.

    Block him immediately !

He'll just wind up ruining the auction for you and legitimate buyers.

And add a note in your auction "No bidders with less than 5 feedback or a bad feedback rating. "

I cancelled his bids and placed him on my block list. Hope this doesn't make other bidders think there's something weird about my auction. I already have a disclaimer that says if you have excessive negative feedback to contact me before bidding. I've had several auctions sale to 0 feedback bidders and they worked out great, so I don't want to block people new to eBay. Thank you for the advice.

Personally, I would have let him do the side offer. It's against ebay policy, but <shrug>
Tell him if he uses paypal NOW to a confirmed address NOT with a credit card, you'll end the auction (if it's a price you want)
If he meets all those conditions, perfectly safe for you. (also assuming $200 is an ok price)

I do alot of "on the side" ebaying. The nice thing is to have them pay for the item, then end the auction when you have cash in hand! no harm no foul.
