Default Free-For-All Cage match! Best 8 bit handheld.

I know most would pick the Gameboy but some may pick another. Vote and then tell us why you picked your pick and which one you hate. I know this has been done before but this time I wanted to include some more obscure handhelds in the poll. Have fun and enjoy.

My best will go to the Gameboy. The Game Gear is close for screen features and it is very comfortable, but I dont like any of the games, and the GB had the best games and the most that I enjoyed. I will make an honorable mention for the Supervision (Watara Version) the games sucked but the system has a nice screen and was powerful, and would be very nice with some good homebrew games.

Neo Geo Pocket is a 16 bit so it doesn't count, and the wonderswan is 32. Both don't count.

I've gotta go with the Game Boy, with the Game Gear in second.

The original GB is simply more fun to play than most handheld consoles (including the GB Color). I guess it has more to do with the game library than the actual system though.

Hey there... I believe the Wonderswan is actually 8-bit.

    The GP32 is 32-bit

I prefer the Gameboy myself... just so many darn games! The backlit Game Gear is great to play and has some nice games, but its small library (compared to the GB/BG Color), weight, and hunger for batteries makes it second.

    Cheers

Gameboy just for the library. But the Game gear is a very close second.

The same as everyone else Gameboy first just because of its library (and some other things, but mostly library) Game Gears a close second just because of its ambition and good design (ignoring battery life) for a system as old as it.
I collect Game Boy games and Systems. Currently looking for any R4 or R6 GB games (and a select few R5) available. PM if you got something.

Game Boy, for the library. Game Gear would have took top honors if it had better battery life, but instead, it's a close second.

Game Gear, largely thanks to the SMS adaptor. Phantasy Star on a train? Sorted. Cloud Master on the toilet? Got it covered Props for the TV tuner aswell.

WonderSwan is only 8-bit? Blimey! If I'd ever actually played one I may have to consider. From what I've seen of it it's a really sweet machine.

Least favourite? Pretty sure it would be the Game.com if I had played one but since I haven't I'll pick the B&W Gameboy (sacrelige!). I like the Pocket & Color, but anything that scrolls is just one big blurry mess on the original model. The Supervision is saved the least favourite vote purely because it's got Pang. And nothing with Pang can ever be *all* bad

Wow, a vote for the GameMaster! I only put that one in there to include every system in there, but kudos for all who vote on this thread!

Gameboy no question. The game gear and Lynx screens made me want to vomit.
Edit - hey, where is the lynx?

    GAME BOY

original > pocket (yes, the screen is better here but it's too small and thin thus cramping my hands)

the blurring isn't THAT bad, IMO. i liked the yellow/green tint of the screen better than the grayscale of the GBP/GBL.

unlike the GBP, i like the GBC and GBL as even though they are smaller, they have some added bulk at the back to spread my hands out on a bit more, so they don't cramp as bad.

GAME GEAR feels alright but battery life sucks, the screen could be less blurry, and the lighting could be more even.

The Lynx should be included here... they advertised it as a 16-bit system, but it still runs off a 6502 processor. As always, n-bit labels are silly and meaningless.

My vote goes for the Lynx.
