    Default DC VGA Image

    Hi,

I just picked up a DC VGA cable and wondered, what games does it make the biggest difference on? So far I've tried SA2 (Not a huge difference) and Jet Grind Radio (Big difference there) What other games will I notice a difference on?

Guilty Gear is supposed to look real nice on it. Other 2d fighting games should look like crap (ie Marvel vs Capcom 1& 2) because they run at a low resolution.

There is a HUGE difference in DOA 2. Code veronica looks much better. And test drive v rally and le mans are the games in wich I've noticed the biggest difference.

A vga box/cable stands for video graphic accelerator, it basically just allows you to hook up one of your consoles to your pc for higher resolution.

If the back of the case says "VGA support", the game will look better.

I'm partial to racing games like Daytona and Rush 2049 myself.

I can't believe there are so many people out there who are willing to play Dreamcast games on computer monitors, regardless of the graphic increase. I've never personally seen it and I'm not even interested in it. All my gaming stuff is together -- I can't imagine moving my DC away from the others or a small computer monitor next to the collection just to play DC games on. I know it's just me because there have been multiple topics on the subject, but to each their own, that's what makes this hobby so great!

BTW, I saw new DC VGA Adapters at Game Exchange today for $24.99, and I'm guessing by searching around you could find them cheaper.

Is there such thing as a universal VGA adapter? I'm intrigued by the concept, but I don't want it simply for one system. Is there a generic box I can just plug all my systems into?

Well normally I'd agree, but here is the thing. I have one tv, and one computer monitor. The woman of the house watches TV far more than she uses the computer. So I've got two options. Purchase a TV or switch to the Monitor. TV's are more expensive and my 17 inch is just fine for me.

Honestly, the difference is truly *that* much. What I do is have a DC attached to my TV and one to my monitor.

And the reason so many people are willing to use the VGA boxes is because they are so cheap for the DC. No other system had it built-in, so you're looking at spending $150+ for a VGA box for those systems. At a $10-20 entry fee, the Dreamcast ones are a much better deal.

I have a few DC VGA boxes left over from the MGC if anyone is interested. And Lik-Sang is a great place to get them pretty cheaply

Some boxes have the connetion for both a TV and monitor. Mine is hooked up both ways depending on how I want to play. S-Video to the TV is available at the flip of a switch as is the computer monitor. Seriously, don't say you don't want to until you've seen it. You really can't fathom how good it looks.

After playing Rez in VGA this weekend, I am seriously considering getting a VGA box. Any of the sharper 3D games look so much better on it that it is totally amazing. Rainbow Cotton was simply gorgeous as well.

At one time, my DC and my computer shared a monitor. I needed my DC close to my computer because that's where my internet connection was, and the desk was convenient for my steering wheel.

After using that setup for a while I got kind of spoiled. Now I have two Dreamcasts...one hooked up to a monitor for racing games, and one hooked to a TV.
