I'm picking up the game today and I'm excited that there's all kinds of funk, hip-hop and rap. I'm not particularly a fan of these styles of music but the game is all ABOUT the people who love (and write!) that music. "I'm gonna pop a cap in yo ass" mentality doesn't play right with New Order or Spice Girls in the background, IMO. Enoy Vice City for what it is, try to enjoy San Andreas for what it is. Or just wait for the Xbox version and put your own music in the game.
I can't wait to play this.
Great post there buddy. Congratulations.Originally Posted by Promophile

Anyhoo, the game is pretty great. The "O.G. Loc" mission has been my favorite thus far.

Hmph.
Right on! I got the game yesterday (after waiting in line for over an hour), got home played it for three hours and loved it. I'm not the biggest fan of rap, but I like it in the context of the game because that's the type of image the game is trying to portray, it would sound wierd if CJ was cruising in his pimped out ride with Flock of Seaguls blasting. Plus the rap just sounds cool pumping out of my sub, I can't wait to get the bass boost for the carOriginally Posted by digitalpress
Okay. Let's keep the personal attacks personal. RE: Use Private Messages.
Anyways, I am willing to give this game a shot. I read the back of the box and it says early 90's. And even though, I prefer the more 80's type of 90's music, at least early 90's Rap and Hip-Hop is better than what we have now. So when it comes into my house, I will give it a shot.
But I won't buy it myself. I see no reason to. I am not a fan of the whole missions thing. I'd rather wait for my brother to buy it, beat it then play his game to do all the cool stuff.
Question, though. Anyone have a link to the soundtrack listing? What songs are in the game? I'd like to take a gander. I might even find stuff I like.
Seriously some of us just don't like Rap. You don't have to jump down our throats for expressing our opinions.
believe you can turn the radio off
so what's the big deal?
well its midnight here now, and i have been playing straight since 4 pm, and all i can say is WOW. the map really is huge, and just the first city is massive. some of the missions are very fun, but ive ran into two so far that i didnt like. this is such an improvement, i recommend everyone gives it a try
Got it monday night, played it for hours and love it...only 3.21% complete and on like the 7th mission...also the size is insane
Would be playing right now but so tired from work...will probably play after work tomorrow.

Are there Hidden Packages in SA like in VC?
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
no. there are oysters to find (?) and tags that must be tagged over.
great people to do business with - D-Lite, max330mega, The Collector, Jimmy Yakapucci
neo-geo.com - vwlunatic, BIG BEAR, neogeofl, pixeljunkie, japangamesnow.com, OmegaSaber
Yep there's 50 oysters (under water) and 100 tags. There's supposed to be 150 more things to collect as well, dont have any idea what they would be though.
Cinnamon!
check out the recent poll at gamefaqs.com on topic and very surprising results so far
Here's a link to an article on San Andreas that I found on yahoo, if anybody's interested.
'San Andreas' poised for big sales, big debate
Also there are land packages called horseshoes, 50 of them that makes 150 collectables in the game

Alright, just started my game last night, so this first impression is after about 3 hours of play.
The most noticeable changes in GAMEPLAY were the ability to climb over fences and walls, the "stats" that measure your muscle, stamina, sex appeal, and the right analog that controls the camera view the way you want it to (not first person-perspective, just move the camera). The aiming is improved, and when you lock onto a target the camera follows the target until you unlock, you can also change targets on the fly. Nice. I also took a dive into the water and lo and behold, I did not die. The rest of the game from a gameplay standpoint is like Vice City.
I had heard the graphics are "much improved".I don't see that. The graphics are good and typically GTA-stylized, but not "much improved".
The world is HUGE. After clearing the first few missions I decided to see how far I could go. Naturally I hit the "bridge out" (another signature of GTA) but the quarter of the map I was able to travel was easily as big as all of Vice City. There are zillions of cubby-holes and places to hide potential goodies and hold future missions, I'm pretty excited about the world GTA: SA has to offer.
Ah, the music. This has been discussed here before and all I can tell you is that it FITS THE GAME. Your protagonist is black. His gang is black. Just about everyone in the game who has a speaking role thus far is black. The urban-themed music just goes with the game. I would have been disappointed if there were any less of it and I'm happy that there is a wide variety of this style of music in the game. Bring on da beat!
The missions were still really easy three hours into the game but that's OK; it gives you time to familiarize yourself with your local area. I also like the ability to go to the gym to increase your muscle, perform stunts to improve your car driving skills, and eat to increase your health.
At one point I stumbled upon a 2 PLAYER icon, where the game asked me to plug a controller into port 2. I took note of the location and continued my game - has anyone tried this yet? How does the two player version work?
Overall I like it. It feels like GTA and yet it's so much different. Someone mentioned that the dialogue sounded like it was written by white guys trying to be black, I didn't see it that way. Then again, I've never lived in an urban setting so maybe I'm just missing out. It's fooling me, and the voice ACTING is very well done.
So, from 3 hours of gameplay I'd recommend it, as I would any other GTA title. I'll offer up some more opinion as I get deeper into the game.
