    Default tactics ogre for n64

    Hi every one.
Could anyone tell me if tactics ogre for the nintendo 64 is any good? A guy at a local fleamarket has a copy and wants $50 bucks for it. I would hate to buy it and find out its a very crappy version. Im looking for a good reason to keep my nintendo 64. Haven't played any good games for it at all.
    thanks,
    p.

If you haven't played "any good games for your N64 at all"....then either you just got the system....or you need to seriously broaden your gaming tastes.

In the day of the N64, Rare was considered to be one of the most talented game developers in the world. They did all of those platformers...Conker's Bad Fur Day, Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie. These are NOT "kiddie" games. Go ahead and TRY to complete them. They take skill. Rare also did Goldeneye....probably one of the top 3 shooters of it's time.

The N64 had tons of great games. Ogre Battle was definitely one of the best. As a matter of fact...it's the heaviest cart in the library as well as the biggest game sizewise on the N64. It was also the most expensive.

Want a real challenge? Play Super Mario 64 to 100% completion...including the secrets (good luck discovering them.....most people don't know they exist).

    Racers: F-Zero X..... Star Wars Episode 1 Racer.....Wipeout 64......World Driver Championship.

Shooters: Quake.....Doom.....Goldeneye....Perfect Dark.....Turok......Jet Force Gemini (another by Rare)

Platformers/ Adventure: ALL of them....especially Zelda The Ocarina Of Time.....Shadowman.....all of Rare's stuff.

RPGs: Quest 64......Ogre Battle.....Aidyn Chronicles......Paper Mario (it's a real RPG with cartoon graphics)

    Those oughta get you started.

I thought 50 dollars sounded a bit high for it and so I did some searching on ebay...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...142868445&rd=1

that one is 35 BIN 6 dollars shipping

here is a new sealed copy going for 26 with one day left

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...141916487&rd=1

    35 BIN 4 dollars shipping

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...143210400&rd=1

There are more, but the point remains, you can buy that game for less then 50 bucks.

Plenty of good games for the N64. These two links should get you right into the thick of things and onto sweet N64 gaming glory.

Tactics Ogre only came out on Super Famicom and PlayStation. The N64 game is Ogre Battle 64, and it's a completely original new game not found previously (or later) on any other console.

As for its quality, it's a wonderful game, and many consider it the best in the series. $50 is a tad high for it these days, though.

Hmm...I've heard really contradictory things about Quest 64 over the years. I'll have to get a copy...if it's even only as good as Xtreme G (one) I'll be set! :D

Hey thanks for the input. This is my oponion so nobody get mad. I think golden eye sucks. this is because I avidly play quake 3 on line in a clan and its really cool. So I cant play anyother first person shooters. As for zeldas I think they were the worst ones. Just never liked the 3d part of it. Adventure of link and link to the pase were the best ones in my opponion. Yes mario 64 and banjo kazooie were fun games. I still have yet to play paper mario. Also I dont like raceing games except mario kart. Ok so there are a few good games but not very many in my opponion.

I got mine for 10 bucks. I would say it is worth what i payed. I never really put all that much time into it though because i would always get sidetracked. I think i played it for 10-15 hours.

Ogre Battle is a great game, I actually held off on selling my n64 till I beat this game (and till I got the PSX version). Good strategy rpg.

It's not even close to Extreme G (1) quality. And I thought *that* game was crap.

Ogre Battle 64 is probably my favorite N64 game. It's also probably my favorite Ogre Battle/Tactics Ogre game.

Ogre Battle 64 was good but it was so bloody boring. Still want to get a copy of that. I'm also looking for Starcraft 64. That game was great.

Ogre Battle 64 is a good game. I didn't think it was as good as the SNES version though. Still a lot of fun but $50.00 is too much. Loose carts can be had for $20.00
