I recently posted a topic about sony not doing anything with the Sony HDD, and someone recommended getting a HD loader. Now I was just wondering what it is and how does it work. Any Info will help. Plus will it wok on a US console.
I don't own one, but from what I can tell it allows you to back up entire games onto the hard drive.
You then access the game from the hard drive instead of the DVD/CD drive - which allows for virtually no load times & quicker gameplay.

it obviously works (IMO) or people wouldnt set up websites about it... theres a free one here:

I've got one of these things but don't have a HD for my PS2 yet. Does anyone know of a cheap and reliable drive that I can get for it?
The only drawback I heard with the HD Loaders is that it can't read dual layer discs and some of the newer games coming out don't work with it (although I've heard that San Andreas works great)
It's not exactly cheap, but the 120GB Maxtor drive works great. I think it's the most snug fit in the bay as well, even though there is a little room for it to move.Originally Posted by norkusa
