    Default Playstation - Finicky CD drive (Problem?)

    I belive something may be wrong with my Playstation...

    I have a game. it's a *little* scratched... and ran fine via Emulator on my PC fine... but refuses to run on my Playstation. It also WORKS on my friends normal playstation fine, and his PS2, fine...but refuses to work on mine. The Playstation also plays normal, non scrathed discs fine..but..this is a little one that was ran through a Game Doctor...

    He is serious, in case you weren't sure. This tends to line everything back up in case things have sagged a little bit. Works on Dreamcasts, too! It's not really a "fix" per se, but it works in a pinch until you can fix or replace the offending console.

    I have to agree with both of them as well. What can happen is that the laser "eye" on the CD player wears on the bushing underneath it, and the eye ends up falling away a miniscule amount. When it does, the playstation is unable to "see" the disc. I have already repaired a couple of mine. If you are pretty mechanically inclined with a good set of *small* screwdrivers, you can fix this permanently. But I will warn you in advance, be careful!! There are some very fine screws in there, and some very delicate parts you'll move around to do the fix. If you need any help, let me know. I haven't done this fix in a while, I don't remember exactly step by step how it's done, but I can take apart a system and let you know if needed.
