Default Paypal Buyer Protection Policy????? B/S

To cut a long story short,

I sold a Commodore Amiga to someone, they got it, said it wasnt working.

I knew it was working as I tested it specifically before I listed it on ebay.

I said "return it, and i will test it. if it is faulty I will refund you fully"

He refused to return it and wanted a refund up front, when I refused, he left negative feedback.

    He filed a paypal complaint.

30 days later they rule that "if he returns the item in its original condition he can have a full refund out of your paypal account automatically"

    WTF

So he sends it back, I get it, its badly wrapped, the box is crushed to heck, inside it looks like someones attacked it with a knife, I tested it, and surprise... its not working..

I inform paypal of this. They say it may take up to 30 days to investigate.

2 days later (today) I recieve an email saying "we have confirmed that the item has been recieved by you, we have therefore issued a full refund"

    WTF

So ive filed an "appeal" today, which of course "may take 30 days to be investigated..."

    ************* SHAFTED BY PAYPAL ****************

And of course they get my £100's a month and I get absolutely shafted!!

PayPal is a farce. ebay/Paypal was investigated recently on Watchdog for exactly this type of thing. Which is pretty much the reason whu I refuse to use Paypal.

Yeah, in a dispute PP almost invariably sides with the buyer and screws the seller. I've lost something like £80-£100 thanks to fraudulent bidders in the past. It sucks, but there's precisely jack-shit you can do about it, really.
At least name & shame the buyer so we can all steer clear in the future...

They acted like they "were" the buyers . Btw, sorry to hear that, chaoticjelly. I had a thing with PP and those fuckers wouldn't return my money after the fucking seller scammed me. I had to go to the bank to get my money back. At least it was ok. Btw, did paypal take money out of your bank? If so, you can cancel the transaction like I did. Helped a lot.

I had about 80 quid that I transferred that day to my bank.. it was pending..

The cheeky paypal bozos CANCELLED the transfer, took the 31.99 for the buyer!!

THE GUY WAS BEN COOMBE AKA COMBINI79

I recieved a reply two days ago from Paypal. It told me to :

"Approach my local law enforcement agency"

    "File a report with them"

"Fax the report to (american fax number)"

"So we may investigate your appeal"

Rang the police station up today... THEY DIDNT WANT TO KNOW

They advised I spoke to trading standards...

TRADING STANDARDS ADVISED ME TO SUE EBAY... they gave me ebay's address in London....

    HA HA HA

How many people have YOU heard of suing ebay/paypal??

Thanks for the info guys.. just gonna visit paypalsucks.com now.

AND THE STUPID THING WAS... THE GUY PAID 18.50 SPECIAL DELIVERY TO SEND IT BACK...

IT ARRIVED LATE AS WELL (after 1pm.. it arrived at 2pm..)

This guy must have some kind of a grudge?

Also Ive fully inspected the Amiga now... the box is in way worse condition than sent.. its got brown tape on it.. ripped at the corners...

The Amiga has been OPENED... the screws are chewed.. theres marks on the case as if he's slipped with a screwdriver.... a key is loose.. the LED's and keys are all mis-aligned... there are two CRACKS in the grille at the top as if someones shoved a screwdriver through.... THE DISK DRIVE BUTTON is broken....

And he gets his money back.. including post.. and I get a broken Amiga... a load of stress.. hassle.. and anger

It just more sounds like this guy is whacked in the head then anything else.

Just count yourself as having some bad luck. It's really freeky.

    Default hmm

The reason he sent it special delivery is specifically in order to screw you. It means that you cannot deny that you have received the thing back again. In order to get his refund he has to provide proof that you have received it, which means (in Paypal's world) some kind of signed for service with online tracking .. i.e. Special Delivery, in the UK.

Really sorry to hear about that one ... I am just hoping it never happens to me. If it ever did I would certainly consider using the Small Claims Court to sue either the perpetrator, or ebay. That is precisely the kind of thing that the Small Claims Court exists for.

Ae you sure that he sent you back the same Amiga as you sent him? i'm wondering if he may have pulled a fast one and exchanged his broken one with your working one.
