I see alot of the same companies/games repeated EA, thq, etc. As well as very little Japanese games, lol, I'm surprised katamari and megaten:nocturne made the list. I watched a little bit of it last time, and was disappointed at the way it was all carried out. I'm betting they will follow the same format this time, so I'll pass on that and play some megaman X8 (hopefully its a vast improvement over X7).

This seems more like a big gigantic advertisement for the VG industry than an awards show. Why are GTA:SA, Halo 2, and Half Life 2 all nominated for game of the year. Half life 2 isnt even out yet, is it??? What a crock of shit.

At least they're giving a nod to the designers, rather than just the publishers, this time.

I tried to watch it last year and I made it to the second comercial break before I turned the channel. It just could not keep my thumb off the channel button. :/

Most likely to work a game developer untill they drop dead:

    1) Electronic Arts
    2) Electronic Arts
    3) EA Sports
    4) Those guys that made Madden

I found the previous one to be pretty lame. Madden wins now here a artist whose song just happens to be on madden playing live, wwe smackdown wins now here just happens to be some wrestlers to have a match, tony hawk wins and he and some other just happened to be there to skate. You could just have easily only watched the commercials and know who would win just by the list of performers

I just remembered something else that was pretty funny. Madden won game of the year on the awards yet tony hawk's underground was best sports game. You'd think that if madden was game of the year then of course it would also be the best sports game.

Why watch the shit? Seriously. Its kinda like:

And the best game award goes to EVERY GAME MADE BY EA games!

We'll be right back, after a word from our sponsors, EA!

Oh boy, this crap again. :/

Gotta love the token Japanese nominations. Basically it's just MGS3 and a bunch of Tecmo nominations because Spike TV likes to show clips of girls with huge titties. And then there are a few odd nominations for Nintendo and Sega and such just because they pretty much had no other option (ie an EA game) to go with.

No way, man. They suck too, but often Oscars are given to obscure-ass movies. Shakespeare in Love, anyone? That beat out Saving Private Ryan!! And that crap happens all the time. You are right to a degree, but in my opinion, this video game shim sham is a much more flagrant example of a faux-awards show being used as advertisement.

    Chris

EDIT: And they don;t nominate ovies that havent even come out yet!!! That's the kicker. They are using this show to hype games that are just barely coming out. Are you telling me that most of the candidates for game of the year really came out in the last month, if at all yet? We both know that the oscars, emmies, etc arent that bad about it. Shit, I'm really surprised that Gran Turismo 4 wasn't nominated for anything. I mean, it's coming out in like a month! Again, what a crock of shit!!

BEST THING I'D RATHER DO IF IT CAME DOWN TO WATCHING THIS DRECK:
    1. Jam a pencil into my dick.
    2. Jam a pencil into my eye.
    3. Jam a pencil into my eye and dick.
    4. Jam a pencil into my eye and dick at the same time.

All I can say is: bleh. I caught clips of last years and I found it very irritating to watch. Made my eye twitch and my brain decided to vomit out my ears. Twice. Like others have stated, if they are going to do an awards show why are they taking games that just came out or are just coming out and putting them on the "vote" list? Hell, MG3: Snake Eater doesn't ship until tomorrow. Does anyone have any idea when the voting started?

No way Halo 2, Half Life 2 or even Snake Eater should be on that list, especially the "game of the year". Seeing it's on December 14th, it's a great way to heap more hype for game in time for the holidays.
