Default Arcadia 2001 Cart updates and news

    Hi!

I´m collecting for the german Arcadia 2001 clones (Schmid,Hanimex).

I can confirm the following german Hanimex Games (unconfiremd in DPG7)
    3D-Bowling: small cart: MC1006(13)
    Brain Quiz:small cart: MC1011(20)
    Breakaway:small cart: MC1007(17)
    Capture:small cart: MC1010(19)
Cat Trax : large cart: MC1027(24)
    Escape: large cart: MC1028(25)
Grand Slam Tennis: large cart: MC1018(22)
    Jump Bug: large cart: MC1036(31)
    Jungler: large cart: MC1021(4)
    Missle War: small cart: MC1009(10)
    Red Clash: large cart: MC1024(12)
    Space Mission:small cart: MC1005(9)
    Spiders:large cart: MC 1032(29)
    Star Chess: small cart: MC1004(18)
    Super Gobbler: large cart: MC1019(6)

Also i have a game called "Space War", which is the game Space Attack, even with the same front label (turned 90°). (It has no back label, maybe the game should have been called "Space War", but this was too close to "Star Wars"? - See the pictures, maybe you have an idea.

Oooh COOL! I'll have to make sure Ward sees this.

Is that an EPROM on the Space War cart? (by the way the title "Space War" should not have been any kind of problem for the Star Wars franchise lawyers - there were several games released back in the day called Space War or Space Wars).

It's always amazing to see these things cracked open. A Mitsubishi (looks like an) EPROM inside a German Hanimex cart...

    Thanks for sharing this info!

    Default Chips is EPROM

Well, the chips data is very hard to read. It says:
(Mitsubishi Diamonds) M5?2?16 (the ? means unreadable)
    81501
    Japan
But it is def. an EPROM

Yes, thanks for the info! Especially the pictures; they are very cool!

If you're interested, Abend, the message boards the DPCG 7 guide mentions are all about that sort of info you just posted. You may want to sign up with the group over there... we'd be glad to have you. The Yahoo! services requires (free) registration, which is the only real downside. You can find the Arcadia 2001 message boards at:

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/arcadia2001consoles/

By the way, I'm assuming the EPROM in the picture is a 2716; that is (or was) a fairly common 2K chip, back in the day. My next best guess would be a 2516, which was also a 2K chip, but with a slightly different pinout.

And that PC board trace that was obviously cut is interesting, as well. Was that a factory modification, to the best of your knowledge?

Seeing that this cart you showed us is an ultra-early one, I have to ask how it compares to the one we've already archived? Is there any way you can get that cart dumped, to see if it is the same, or if maybe it is a slightly different version of the game? I'm curious, as the name is different, and that cart (IIRC) was one of the two that had a programmer's name hidden in it, with a version number of "two" in the message. Implying, of course, that a version one might exist?
