Is the Dreamcast version of this rpg better to get then the PS2 port?

Yes, definitely. I haven't played the port, but from everything I've heard, it's not very good at all. I believe it suffers from jaggies and possibly framerate problems.
From what I have heard yes. Though to be blunt, I didn't really care much for that game to begin with.
Tradegamesnow and GameTZ feedback.
It's essentially the same game, but as it has been mentioned... jaggy graphics, slowdown, and blurry textures in the PS2 version.
Totally different from Grandia Extremes, which stinks.
Cheers
Don't forget there is a PC port also.

The DC version of this game is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and I've played a LOT of RPGs. Go buy it.
The PS2 game is more complete and has more, but the DreamCast version is a lot smoother and better coded than the PS2 and PC versions.
Hence why it's so sought after and the PS2 is peanuts!
plus the DC version is VGA compatible. i'm not sure that the PS2 version is, and even if it would look good if it was.
i played entirely through this RPG on a VGA monitor and i absolutely loved it. highly recommended.
Why do I suddenly have the urge for some warm chocolate puddin'?
Well I'm sold, now to find it!

This sums it up. I played the PS version, and could tell something wasn';t "quite right" but from what I've heard theres a lot more story and I believe extra scenes/cg.Originally Posted by Gemini-Phoenix

What's Grandia II's battle system like?
My Gaming Collection (Now at Google Drive!)
yeah from what ive seen the graphics in ps2 were much worse...and there was some slow down...DC is the way to go
battle system...i loved it, but you'd have to play to understand ^_^
It's pretty staright forward RPG stuff, with the exception that all characters move independently on a 3D plane as their attacks go off. And, unlike Wild Arms 3, you can control where your characters are moving, and the movement actually MATTERS. Sometimes, they'll move to avoid an attack, and sometimes you can move into a better position from which to unleash their maneuver.
