Default Just wondering... [GBA Incompatible Carts]

Don't ask me why I tried this, but I was attempting to play a Wisdom Tree Game Boy game (Exodus, if you must know...) on my GBA and the cart didn't fit into the cartridge slot. I figured it was incompatable since it was a different cart design, so I plugged it into the GBC GameShark and tried it that way. It refused to work. At that point I was worried the cart was damaged, so I dusted off my old grey clunker and tried it in there. Worked on the first shot. It worked on the first attempt. So it got me thinking...Other than the other Wisdom Tree games, are there any games that are incompatable with the GBA, or is it just those ones?

There are occasional incompatibilities. GBC Rampart doesn't run so hot on a GBA, for example. It must be something about the way they programmed the speech playback, because the game goes crazy whenever it talks.

Other than Wisdom Tree games (which I just found about the other day as well, they do, however, work with a Game Boy Color system as well), Road Rash only works on an original Game Brick, or Game Boy Pocket (shoulda bought the one I saw at the store yestereday). AFAIK, that is the only other game that doesn't work on GBA.

Warlocked goes kinda screwey on a GBA, though I wouldn't really call it an incompatibility.

Solar Striker inverts the colours of the game depending on which GameBoy you play it on...

Can't remember which way round the colours are supposed to be, but they definately change depending on whether you play it on a GameBoy / Pocket, GBC, GBA / SP, or GB Player / Super GameBoy.

One way the background is black with white ships, and the other way the background is white with black ships...

Anyone else noticed this when playing Solar Stiker on different GameBoy's?

    Kirby's Tilt 'n Tumble doesn't work... I think anyways.
Mostly just play Nintendo 64. If you've got games PM me! Cart only.

I know that's true of the GBA SP, but I've never heard of there being a problem with a normal GBA, since the cartridge slot is still on the top of the system...I could be wrong on this, since I don't have the game.

Oh, the eReader is a bit awkward to use on the SP too, but it can be done. You just have to be careful not to shut the lid with it inserted!

It also won't connect to the GameCube properly using the SP - And you have to flip it around if you want to scan a card, or learn to do it backwards!

I know that playing it on my SP, it's black background/white ships. On my regular Game Boy, it's white background/black ships (or should I say, green background/black ships, heh). Haven't tried it on a Super Game Boy yet, but that doesn't really matter because you can change the colors any way you like.

Xenon2 had some graphic issues and/or crashed on GBA iirc.

Great Greed's music gets messed up on a GBC, but they fixed that on GBA.

Same with Space Invaders, white background on the original Gameboy, black background on the GBC

Joshua works on my gba sp with the original game genie for the gameboy. You REALLY have to smash the carts into eachother and make sure there perfectly in there but it works for me.
