In the Sonic Mega + for the PS2, I know you lose some health when do a combo/super puncj/kick but why do I lose some health when I use a simple punch/kick on a door,etc... Is this a bug?

Nope, thats how it is in the original.

Sucks, doesn't it? In the original game, there's a Game Genie code to disable that... if I'm playing without the code, I generally just try to avoid routes that make me punch a lot of stuff. When you do encounter something you have to destroy, try to use your most powerful attacks to destroy them more quickly.
Yeah, you are experiencing no bugs. The way the game was designed in mind I guess was to make you figure out how to grab all these explosives and hidden stuff to use them on the doors instead of punching them. Towards the end this can really screw you if you didn't find the right item. While we're on the topic I have a question of my own:
On the level where there's a lava pit and you need to throw a knife or whatever to make the boulder rise out of the lava pit, I occasionally forget the knife and do a leap of faith to the other side, and my character will slide across the lava and the game will lock up. Has this ever happened to anyone else?
That last bug is new on me.
My favorite version of the game by far is the Windows 95 version (came bundled, along with Ecco, on my older Packard Bell PC).
Losing health from punching/shoulder-slamming/kicking stuff seems odd but it makes sense. There's one area in the monastery level where there's three wooden poles and some other random stuff you need to go through...if I'm going that way I'll just use a paper airplane. Fast and probably ends up saving a bit of HP.
This used to happen to me all the time back in t he day. Only happend when I was using the code you can input for selecting levels etc. I don't remeber if it happend without using the code.Originally Posted by -hellvin-
Are you using the code? Is this on the genny or the emulated versions?
That actually did happen to me, sans any cheats. It was back in the day, I was playing it and all proud that I had made it that far. I jumped, it froze, I got really pissed.
EDIT
400th post. Yay!

Actually, I thought it was a bug from emulation and/or cheating but it's happened to me on a legit copy with no cheats. Basically if you don't have a grenade and knife you can't get past that part. You may be able to without the grenade actually, but if I remember correctly the monster stays in the corner....Originally Posted by spoon

Useful to know as the PC version has level select and a great one-word cheat code (Priscilla).
Emulated- Meaning via the XBox or(if it made it on not sure) The PS2 version of Sonic Mega Collection+.
Odd, I guess the PC Verison of Sega Smash Pack Vol. 2 removed that...Originally Posted by Ed Oscuro

Oh, I'm sorry; forgot all about that one. I should see if I can get across there in the PC version, instead of making wrong posts here :P
@ Super G'n'G: Hmm, I see many sites have the Cameron cheat listed but no Priscilla. I could swear that's another one...hmm.
Also after you use the knife on the switch and the middle platform comes up, you need to press down to squat or the game will still lock up as the platform lowers you into the next panel.
