damn....come on USA! lol
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
i might be wrong but isnt 39.99 roughly about $90 our money, if so, aren't cubes at $100 anyways...i might be wrong on the translation, but that doesn't seem like that much savings.
More like $75. Hopefully it's just a few stores dumping it and not something originating from Nintendo (ie Sega's pricing on the Dreamcast at the end). Though I wouldn't mind picking up a spare cube for $50, it really does mean the end of the road.Originally Posted by gruzniak

If it's euro's then it's about 56 bucks. If it's pounds, then it's about 80 bucks. I would guess it's euro's in this case, other wise Gamecubes must have been selling for 160 bucks, which doesn't seem likely.Originally Posted by mikeetler
The linked article clearly stated "UK retailers" and all prices were in pounds. Checking the current exchange rate at www.xe.com gave me around $76 US. As for them previously being $160, historically systems are sold in the UK at a much higher price then in the US. Check Amazon's UK site. They list the Mario Kart bundle for 75 pounds, which is a $43 premium over the US retail, the PS2 is 95 pounds, or $181 and the cheapest XBox is 115 pounds, which is a staggering $220.Originally Posted by BigGeorgeJohnson

Bad news for game companies means good news for game buyers.

I have seen this happening all over the place. Hardly anywhere is stocking GameCube games anymore. Only the dedicated game shops have any sort of back stock of them, and even they are trying to get rid.
This is reminiscent of when they all shunted the DreamCast into oblivion. So my advice would be - Get them while you can!
I'm off to eBay now to try and snap up a bargain while they are cheap. Cos you just know the desirable ones will just rocket in the next few months.
And you also have to consider we are in the year where we have multiple console launches too! Maybe they are all clearing out their stocks to make space for the forthcoming consoles!
On a side note: I have seen the GameCube & Donkey Konga Bundle selling for around £60 in some places!!!
And another thing you have to consider is: These Mario Kart games which are selling dirt cheap are the console pack-ins which have been taken out and resold, even though they all say "Not for resale" on them... Same thing happened with Prince Of Persia for the PS2...
£39.99 is insanely cheap for the UK. And I'm heading straight to Argos for that Mario Kart deal! It should be said though for those that don't know; Argos and Index are catalogue companies who sell more kettles and golf clubs than video games (probably) and woolworths similarly sell a lot more than just games. All the games shops I know still have reasonable sized Gamecube sections, although they are smaller than the Playstation 2 and Xbox ones.
