Default 10 Holy Grails of Collecting

    Hey everybody.
I wasn't sure if this has been a topic previously. I did a quick search, and found nothing.
I was reading alot of old posts, and saw one where Joe states: "one of the 10 holy grails of video games." (He was referring to Air Raid for the 2600.)
I am curious to know what the other 9 'Holy Grials" would be.
Anybody know? I guess it is sort of subjective, but lets hear what you have to say..
Off the top of my head, I can only think of
Air Raid (if Joe says it... then I say it.)
    NWC Gold NES cart.

    what else.
    thanks

There are many Holy Grails in the Video Game collecting world, it really depends what you collect for.

Here are the answers you will see most often however:

    NWC 1990 Gold Cart
    Air Raid
    Video Life
    Metal Slug
I also know there is some Neo Geo game that sold for $10,000+ , but I foget the name of it right now.

Here are my Holy Grails though:

    Stadium Events
    Myraid 6 in 1
    Cheetahmen 2
    All of the Panesian Games
    Caltron 6 in 1
And of course the NWC cart

ehh... totally depends on what you collect. I could pretty much care less about atari and really only collect sealed nes, whereas some people couldn't care less about what I collect. Collect what you like and don't get sucked in by hype and top-ten lists IMO. It's all just a big dick-swinging contest after a while anyway.

    Yeah.

It DOES depend on what you mean by a "grail." Personally I could care less about many of these so-called grails; I tend to look for stuff that I want and which will be hard or expensive to procure. IMO anything that's coming up on eBay once every two years or worth over $200 is pretty close to a grail, yes?

That said, I'm also curious as to what Joe says are the 10 grails. I suppose this means items that have high desireability - and hence more than a few were made - if it can be called a grail.

I'd also put the Euro Kizuna Encounter in there. It's not possible for most folks to get one, as the apparent rarity and record-setting price tag are too big a barrier to surmount, plus a "Euro Kizuna Encounter Owner's Club" would be very small...yet this one's had enough coverage thanks to said ridiculous price (I don't even think Neo Geo AES *prototypes* had gone for that much) to be considered a potential Holy Grail.

For myself...hmm, the use of "Holy Grail" seems odd. My holy grail would have to be something that is only rumored or hoped to exist

Is Magical Chase rare enough? Probably not...... It at least can be the grail of US Turbo collectors.

Personally I'm interested in a few NES games and anything SNES and up. When I say a few NES I mean the ones over 100 dollars in value.

Select-a-game and any Genesis protype does it for me, particularilly Beyond Zero Tolerance, and a Sega Genesis dev unit would make me go ballistic.

Starfox Super Weekend Competition cart and the DK competition cart would have to go in there too I think.

Kizuna Encounter, I believe. Hell if I know any more about it, though. Anyone actually know how many of these were made?

My personal "holy grail" would have to be Tetris for the Megadrive. Think Tengen Tetris, only nearly every copy was destroyed before they even shipped. Something like four copies are known...

Look for the scans of Joe's column "Collector's Closet". Most of the older ones are somewhere on this site. One of them features the 10 Holy Grails.

Usually, if I ever see any used N64 games for sale, I always check to see if there's a Clayfighter 1/3 Sculptor's Cut. Yeah, I guess that's one of mine.
And don't bring up that stupid girlie Aladdin rip off! Shantea?

4 copies of Kizuna known to exist,
and its worth a considerable amount more than $10,000, last copy sold for $12,500, but i would suspect that it could go near $15,000 next time one is sold off.
