i live down here in austin, texas, and i'm 17 as of now, i drive an old tempo, and have a girlfriend who's way too hot for me, but girls like those artsy guys i guess. i play harmonica and sing, and actually make money off of that, i'm also an aspiring writer, and actor. if i can make good on any one of em though i'd be glad, musician, actor, or writer. renaissance man.

i've been playing videogames since i was three first game i played was zelda on the nes, and i actually followed the console wars until recently when i got so into the neo geo that no other consoles matter that much anymore, i came here to sell my heavy barrel cabinet, as i have no room for it any longer, but alas, no one is buying. all i want is $200 and you to take it away, and it's yours. my favorite games are as followes:
fatal fury special
king of fighters 97
zelda link to the past
chrono trigger
earthbound
empty plastic eyes
staring deep into my soul
god damn barbie dolls

Default Hi there!

- Who you are

Hi, I'm Doug, just some guy.

- How you found the forums

Hmmmm. . .I think probably while lurking at AtariAge.

- What your favorite games are

Here's some. . .Rez (DC), Panzer Dragoon Saga, Tempest 2000 (Jaguar), Kaboom!. . .the list is long and changes. Right now I'm playing Border Down on DC and the Star Soldier remake on my new Gamecube!

- What systems you collect for

I guess I don't collect specifically to get a complete collection for a particular system or anything. In my early Jaguar days I was on the road to having a complete collection. The games were cheap, and the then new Telegames releases were readily available (IS 2, Towers 2, etc). . .but I decided that I was being nuts and stopped.

I go through phases of what system holds my attention: I went through a JPN Saturn phase from like 2000-2001, when the discontinuing of the Dreamcast led me to leave the Saturn a bit to start buying up all the then cheap (and good) DC games I could. Earlier this year I went through a small phase buying Japanese CD games for my TurboDuo.

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.

I still have my 2600 (well, Sears Tele-games!) that my parents bought me when I was young, as well as my NES, but for various reasons I stopped gaming and missed the very end of the NES era, the SNES/Genesis era, and the 1st half of the PS/Saturn/N64 era (I know! what was I thinking?!?. . .apologies to all other systems from those eras not mentioned). Anyway, I got back into gaming in 1997 when the Jaguar was being blown out for $30 at Kay-Bee. I figured I always liked Atari as a kid, so I picked it up more out of nostalgia than anything.

When I got the system I purchased Dino Dudes and Supercross 3D and proceeded to be unimpressed. Then I went back and got Tempest 2000 and was like, "Oh! This is what has happened in gaming since I've been gone!"

Since then I've accumlated many systems and games, keeping up with newer systems, and trying to get good games I missed from the past. I guess I'm a collector via being a pack-rat in general! I try to buy games that I will enjoy to play, but will nonetheless hang on to games that I dislike. Someday I'll have a huge sale and unload a ton of stuff. Maybe when I'm 60. . .?

Whoa. . .how's that for long-winded. Sorry! At any rate, I'm glad to be here!

I was just activated 5 minutes ago... Makes me sound like a robot...
Anyways, I'll make this brief:

- Who you are
Wes Bond, a.k.a. Sofa King Gud

- Where you live
Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

- How you found the forums
I used the search engine Google, to find rarity lists and video game collector guides, and I found this wickid site.

- What your favorite games are
Varies from week to week. Right now, its got to be NBA Jam, Rock N' Roll Racing, and Jimmy Connor's Pro Tennis Tour (SNES).

- What systems you collect for
SNES, NES, Genesis, Playstation 1 and 2, and Sega CD.

- What you do in "real life"
I'm a student/jock, thats why I usually like classic sports games a lot... Don't want to give away too much info. :P

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Not really, but I just got back into classic gaming. It's funny, because Classic games relax me after a long day, and today's more modern games don't, go figure.

- Who you are
Hello eveyone! My name is Chuck. I am 35 and have been gamer for about 25 years and have been collecting for about 15 years, if my math is correct. I have, at last count over 1800 games.
- Where you live
I live in Cleveland Ohio.
- How you found the forums
Would visit often, but I finally decided to register.
- What your favorite games are
Hmm, I guess old school for me. Shmups, action and some RPG's.
- What systems you collect for
That's a tough question, but I guess it would be Sega Saturn and PCEngine/TG16.
- What you do in "real life"
Work for an insurance company.
- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Favorite companies would have to be Sega and Capcom. I also am into Godzilla and in general Japanese culture. My favorite game (at the moment!) is Panzer Dragoon Saga.
Thanks guys
Chuck

-Who you are

The name's Carey, and yes, it's male gender oriented in this case. I'm also 18 years old and come from Waukesha, Wisconsin.

- How you found the forums

I just happen to find them one day looking around.

- What your favorite games are

From the recent generations, I'm huge fan of the Metal Gear Solid games, and also a fan of Metal Gear before the current ones.
Metroid Fusion and Metroid 3 are easily up there for my favorite games, and also Zelda: Link to the Past. Mega Man 2 is classic in my eyes still, just because its where I started to play like mad. And, gotta love Mario Bros. 3. Oh, and of course, almost every single Sonic game.

- What systems you collect for
I try and collect as often as possible, but I run into lots of expensive games here in Wisconsin. Anyways, I collect for NES, SNES, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation, Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, N64, and Game Boy (advance).

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
I don't have many interesting facts, and I don't know how I began collecting. Just one day I felt the need to just buy games, and since then I've been trying to get games I've desired to play, or games that bring back that good old nostalgia.

-Who you are
Chris, 18, currently living in Austin, TX and studying Computer Science at the University of Texas (Hook 'em!)

- How you found the forums
Google lead me to another classic gaming site which lead me to this wonderful community

- What your favorite games are
The Mega Man series by far, I fell in love with video gaming through MM2 + 3. Although they began to mess up the classic game formula in the late games of both original and X series, I still find myself coming back for more! Also, all of the Mario games tickle my fancy (with the exception of 2 and Sunshine..). And of course, who can forget the lovable Bubble Bobble/Rainbow Islands games!

-What systems you collect for
As you can see, I'm pretty much a diehard NES/SNES collector, although I do have current systems like PS2/GC and HAD DC/Saturn for a while..

- Any other interesting facts, like how you began collecting, etc.
Just a few months ago I read the announcement for Mega Man X7...and I began to hate my parents for making me sell my old video game systems and games a while back! Since then I've been on a furious hunt to reclaim my childhood , spending all of my available funds on whatever I can find. I've always been a packrat, so I do have a complete and consuming obsession with finishing my collection to the fullest, which I thought was pretty rare until I found this forum !

Well, I have been a gamer since about the time I could crawl. Had jsut about every system through the years, and sold way to many of em I was the type when the new systemscame out I would sell the old stuff usually get a pittance and move to the newest. That stopped about 7 years ago when I discovered import games and some that never made it over here. I basically have a set list of games I want for each system, and a couple I am working on complete runs for a couple of systems (dreamcast, n64, virtual boy). I am a big rpg fan, and have been since my d & d days as a kid ( I would still play if I could find a group that didn't disgust me or scare me lol). I have a wife of almost 3 years and yes I sucked her into the dark side (pso for the dreamcast did it) she plays alot of rpg's but she likes platformers and will try most anything game wise.

If you are a collector and live in my area give me a holler I am starting up a local collector's group.

Hey everybody, my name is Nate and I'm from Michigan.

I've always been a gamer since I can remember, literally some of the first memories I have are playing a Coleco Vision.... which unfortunately has long since broken

I own an NES that I've had since I was three, and I'm about twenty now, have got about 30 or 40 games for that, I'll work up a list later I spose... I also own an SNES, a DC, a Genesis, an N64, a PS1 and a Gamecube... mostly I've been sticking to the good ole' NES though.

I'd LIKE however to get into collecting of Super Famicom, Neo Geo AES/MVS, as well as more NES, SNES and maybe some DC. See I haven't gotten into the collecting aspect until recently, which has mostly been fueled by reading these boards

and well I guess thats about as much introducing as I'll be able to pull off at the moment, but I do hope to be posting here much more often and hopefully burning some hard earned money on gaming in the near future!

Hmm.. guess I need to do this thing again.

Who am I? The infamously grouchy Bloodcat.

Why am I grouchy?

I am neither oldschool enough to want it to be 1982 again, but not newschool enough to be happy with the current videogame climate.

I am more than happy to gripe and yell about Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and how much I hate real time in my strategy gaming.

My first videogame memory is in 1980 when I was 6, playing Space Invaders on a neighbor's Atari 2600.

These days I do the odd bit of retrogaming, while picking up what I hope will be the choicest videogame morsels of today. Usually I end up with a buggy mess of wasted potential like Star Wars Galaxies and become more depressed than usual.

I'm cheap, I despise preordering unless I get something cool for doing so, and I try to support wierd and cult games, which end up being great ideas yet horribly implemented like R.A.D. and Titans of Steel.

I currently do my main gaming on the PC, with a side order of Gameboy Advance, X Box, PS2, and Gamecube.

My system collection includes:

Playstation 2
Gameboy Advance,Color, Original, Player, E Reader
Neo Geo Pocket Color
Sega Master System, 32x, CD, Genesis, Nomad, Dreamcast, Power Base Converter and Saturn
X Box
Atari 7800
A rapidly aging 1900 Athlon with a 3 years old Win 98 install
An Amiga 500 in need of a monitor or an A520 adaptor
Intellivision, ultra ugly Sears version
Nintendo NES, SNES, N64, and Gamecube

My last console game count was over 350 and I was afraid to even begin counting PC games.

As I am a middle child of gaming, with my own obstinate personality forged from mostly buying the stuff I wanted to before anyone else did anyhow, I fully expect to unintentionally upset or offend those folks with more delicate personalities when it comes to their videogames. I apologize now, and request that my sig line is taken into account before I am yelled at.

Favorite games?

All time arcade is Atari Vector Coin Op Star Wars.
Current favorite is Knights of the Old Republic.
In the middle of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Disagea, Star Wars Galaxies, and Neverwinter Nights: Unretide expansion.

I currently reside in gamer hell, aka southeastern New England states region of the USA. Unless you think casinos are gaming. I don't. And I work at one. It does make me want to kill the dealer in Intellvision Blackjack though. Because he is a yellow and more facially expressive version of me.

Thank you and I hoped I passed the audition for the 2nd time. I went into lurk mode for the last 14 months or so..
Because stupidity and taking fun stuff too seriously makes Little Washuu cry!

Yo, gamers -

I'm Brendan, and I hail from the east. I was born near Chicago, then moved to Idaho Falls, ID, then ended up near Wilmington, NC for awhile, and finally, I'm here.

Unfortunately my reason for being here at the forums is originally because I wanted to plug my convention, MAGFest. But on the bright (?) side, it seems I've found everyone is it a little bit more geared towards games in the ways that I am, and respects the classics a bit more than, say, the folks over at the G4 forums (at least, so far). So you might be stuck with me for awhile.

Games that have made a big impact (some of these may sadden you; apologies in advance) on me to date that I can think of at the moment are:
• Arcade: Tempest, Sinistar, Dragon's Lair, Ninja Turtles, Mortal Kombat, Spy Hunter, STUN Runner, Hard Drivin, Marble Madness, Gauntlet, Sprint, Dance Dance Revolution
• PC: Nethack has redefined my view on all PC games.
• Atari: Most of the initial 2600 release classics / arcade bring-homes (Crystal Castles, Space Invaders, Asteroids), as well as lots of the early Activision releases (and Pitfall II).
• Nintendo: Zelda, Contra, River City Ransom, Mario 2 and 3, Mega Man 2 and later, Pinball (ducks)
• Sega: Alex Kidd, Spy vs. Spy, Columns, Y's, Wonder Boy in Monster Land
• Other inspirational games: Final Fantasy, Bubble Bobble, Tetris, BC's Quest 1 & 2, Bomb Squad, argh too many games
I collect for, er, okay, I'm not going to answer this question, but instead I'll say that the newest system that I actually OWN (we have every system in existence somewhere in this house between my roomies and myself) is an original PlayStation.

In real life, I am a Pizza Delivery Boy. Non-paying jobs include running MAGFest and developing open-source software (see sig and/or website).

I watch anime and sci-fi, rarely use my TV except for videogames, spend a lot of time working on computers or playing around with linux/unix, write music, and, uh, stuff.

Default Yay for me

Hey everyone, My name is Ryan and im just about to be 15 (October 25th). I have been a member of the AtariAge forums sense about July under the same name, and decided to join the community over here! The systems I own (I dont collect for ALL of them, but most) Atari 2600 (around 150 games) Genesis (around 50) PS1 (20 or so) N64 (15) GameBoy Color (a measly 6 games) GameGear (3 games) PS2 (25) and am a HUGE computer gamer (I have a GeForce 4 4600 Ti, if that means anything to anyone), its impossible to estimate how many games I have bought throughout all the years. I have been playing videogames sense I was 3 and am an all around nerd. I look forward to meeting some of you, and a few I recognize from AA.com
Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Number 1 in the 'hood g!

Well lets see....

I'm 35 years old. My first game system was the Atari 2600. I went on to acquire an Odyssey 2, TI-99 4/a, C64, and an Amiga 500. Although I still have all my original systems and games, the act of collecting is rather new to me. In 2002 while planning my 11 year wedding anniversery to Las Vegas I noticed that CGE would be there at the same time. This was perfect since my wife is a diehard Keno player and I only gamble a little. There I got the collecting bug. When I got home I dug out all my old systems, brushed them off, and started them up. By the 2003 CGE I was collecting in full swing. Currently I am trying to finish my TI collection .

I cut my computing teeth on the TI, C64, and Amiga. I went on to get my Bachelors degree in Computing and an MCSE. I worked in the IT field in the LA area for 10 years putting in 20hr days and logging 300 freeway miles a day for ungreatful, spoiled, corporate types. In 1998 I had enough so decided to have a nervous breakdown .

Then a funny thing happened this 30 year old burned out Agnostic found work in the oddest of places A Christian school. I now teach K-8
computer studies. This year I added a new elective, "Classic Gaming". I'm having a blast and reliving my youth
Aha! Now we see the violence inherent in the system!

My name is Eric, I am 31 years old and I live in Quebec City. I have been collecting videogames for about 5 years now, even though I sorta took a break for the last two years, now I am back into it.

My first videogame was an Atari 2600, back in 1982. My and my brother got that as a Christmas present and we just played the crap out of Keystone Kapers and Decathlon. Those were fun times... we went on and got a NES and C=64. Ahh...being young again!

Favorite games? Well, I am more of a Fighting/Racing/Sports gamer. I have to say SoulCalibur (DC) and the Virtua Figther series are among my favorites. Arcade wise, my favorites are Battlezone and Bubble Bobble. Favorite system? I have to say the Saturn... with the Vectrex as a runner-up.

I'm collecting 3DO/Saturn/PSX/DC and some NES stuff. I've got a small collection (used to be a good one but had to sell a huge chunk of it away...and boy, do I regret that! hehe ) . What got me into collection is when one of my exes gave me an Atari 2600 Jr with 10 carts that her grandmother had... while doing some research, I discovered videogame collecting and that was it! I was hooked

Hi I'm Pango. I'm mostly into pirate and unliscensed Famicom and NES games. I'm also a huge MAME fan though. My MAME collection is somewhere around 2,700. I've submitted this review for DP http://www.digitpress.com/reviews/missworldnude96.htm

Default I'm Chris

I'm Chris. Larsoncc. I'm a video game collector with well over 2 dozen systems, and well over 500 games. At some point, you just stop counting and start playing.

Back in the day, I wrote several fanzines using the Vapor moniker. Two of my more well known fanzines were The Panic Zone and Codename: MegaZine.

I currently write and direct Fatman Games (www.fatmangames.com). It's spiffy. It's an actual company now. So, it's like a fanzine, but better, because people can't take my house if I say something bad.

Arnie Katz said that I bring a "punk rock sensibility" to game fanzines, so I kicked him in the nuts. I actually talked to the guy once on the phone. It was fun.

I wrote for some music fan magazines, too - I managed to score an interview with Mike D from the Beastie Boys. I was completely incompetent during that interview, which makes for a fun story. That is, if pain and humiliation are fun.

Anyway, I ditched the whole fanzine thing, because I couldn't hack that and school simultaneously. Printing all of my fanzines out took money. I was eating noodles and butter. It wasn't a hard choice.

I decided against journalism, because I thought that journalists were completely arrogant, misinformed, corporate spoon-fed babies. Additionally, you can make more money bagging groceries. So, I switched to Computer Science instead. I found out that a lot of people were just like me - all this time, I was a closet geek behind a chiseled physique and massive popularity.

I'm so chiseled that I had to open a site called Fatman.

Assuming this forum doesn't eat my name / password combo again, you'll see me post occasionally.

hello, i'm hannes, 20 y/o and i live in germany.

i stumbled across this site when i was searching the web for video game collectors rarity guides, it's cool that there's actually a rather big community around that subject.

i started out with an a500 at age 12 (pretty late and pretty newschool, i know ;) and i'm mainly a c= fan. i concentrate on collecting cd32 games, but also normal amiga disk games. i'm also currently expanding my collection to other systems, but i really just started. i've got a c64, c128, a500, a1200, cd32, cdtv, gba+sp, xbox and a vc4000, the oldest system i own atm.

when i'm not collecting, i like to do pixel graphics (like my avatar) or digital paintings, i'll start work as a graphician at a gamecompany next month.

Hello all! I'm Xolik (z'oh-lick) and I'm from beautiful Sothern California. I came across this forum while googling around on the job and liked what I saw. My favorite type of games are usually RPGs but I sometimes enjoy a good shooter. Currently I'm trying to get my hands on every game released in the US for the Turbo-Duo and console Neo Geo. When I'm done with that, I'd like to gather up Atari 5200 and lynx games.

In the real world, I work in IT for a University doing optical imaging work. It's pretty neat stuff! I like working out and am currently trying to tone myself up a bit. I may not post a whole lot at first. I prefer to lurk more and get a feel for the board. Thanks!
