    Hi.. Gandalf42 here,

    I've collected systems and games for the better part of a decade. The systems I currently own the Atari 2600 (4), Atari 5200 (1), Atari 7800 (2), Atari XE Game System (1), Colecovision (1), Intellivision (3), Odyssey 2 (2), Playstation (4), Playstation 2 (3), Playstation 3 (1), XBox (2), Xbox 360 (1), Gamecube (2), Saturn (3), N64 (3), Wii (1), PSP (1), NDS (2), NDS Lite (1), Genesis (2), TG-16 (2), TurboDuo (1), 3D0 (1/Panasonic), GameGear (1), NeoGeo Color (1), Gameboy Advance (2), WonderSwan (1), Sega Master System (2), SNES (2), NES (10). I'm probably forgetting a few.

The games I mainly collect, play and trade are shoot'em ups and I also run a Shoot'em up fansite called Shmuptacular.

Looking forward to some good classic gaming chatting.

    Hey.

My name is Jordan. I'll be 21 in like two weeks and I'm in college at LSU. Two more semesters and I will be out with a double major in electrical engineering and computer engineering. Then I'm going to be a musician.

I've been collecting games since I was 14 or so. I started out collecting games for the NES and now I collect anything that I can find. I'm a big RPG fan, but I definitely love a good side scrolling fighter or shooter.

    Default Greetings and Well Met

    Greetings and Well Met.
My name is Mike and I'm 43 and been a video gamer since 1972 when my father brought home the first Odyssey, When I moved out I took all the gaming consoles with me. At first I never thought of it as 'collecting' video games, I just thought of it as keeping them so that I could hook them up and play them whenever I got the urge. It wasn't until I started hearing people talk about the "old" days when they first played on their NES or SNES that I realized 2 things. I'm OLD, and I have an extensive video game console collection. .

I'm a single father raising my 2 daughters who are both also gaming adicts, I'm currently trapped in Florida, and thats not as great as many think it is.

I found this site on a Google search, as I recently got fed up with the 2 gaming forums I was a member of and decided to search for another place that was established and covered all ranges of video games, and Here I am.

My favorite games of all time are Donkey Kong(arcade), Joust(arcade), Gyruss(arcade), Both Animal Crossing games(GCN,DS), Mass Effect(xbox360), Lost Odyssey(xbox360), and both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic(xbox) As you can see I favor the so called "RPG's" even though none of them actually feel like true Role Playing Games.

The following are consoles that I own, although most are packed away in storage because I dont have enough space now to display them.

    • 3DO
    • Atari 2600 x 4
    • Atari 400
    • Atari 5200
    • Atari PONG x 2
    • C64
    • ColecoVision
    • Gamecube
    • Intellevision
    • N64
    • NES x 2
    • Odyssey
    • Odyssey 2000
    • Odyssey 2
    • Sega Genesis
    • Sega MasterSystem
    • Sega CD
    • SNES
    • TurboGrafix 16
    • TI-99/4a
    • VIC20
    • Xbox
    • Xbox360
    • Wii

    • DS x 3
    • DS lite x 3
    • GB
    • GBP
    • GBC
    • GBA
    • GBA-SP x 3
    • Sega GameGear
    • Virtualboy

And before anyone asks NO I do not own any SONY systems, Once SONY screwed up my computer I vowed to never allow their products in my home ever again, with the exception of CD's and DVD's which now NEVER go near my computer.

For the past 2 years I was the home caregiver for my grandfather who has Alzheimer's which was pretty much a 24/7 job, but now he is in a nursing home so I can return to the working field, now to just find a company that is actually hiring. lol

spare time for me is spent playing with my daughters, playing video games, and puppetry. yes I'm a professional Puppeteer.

Well I guess thats enough "Intro" for me, now I'll go check out some more boards.

    Hey, now....

I'm Joe from Boston. I'm 30, married, two kids, and I still play video games. I'm kind of stuck in the past -- NES, Genesis, Super NES are my go-to's for a quick game. I own a Wii (again, two kids), but haven't made the next-gen leap to PS3 or 360 yet. I also have a DS, PS2, GameCube, even a TG-16.

I like collecting old video games and systems, and have a decent NES and Genesis collection. Mostly whatever I come across at thrift stores and yard sales. For example, I have an Odyssey2 system, but no games!

I am a staff member on VGR, where you can see my game list. Try to contain yourself.

Now that I've said hello, I'll likely keep to myself and continue hunting down barcodes for every single video game known to mankind (I'm also OCD, ADD, sometimes ED, and every now and then RLS).

    Bye for now...

    Default Goatjuggler's Opus

Doh, forgot to introduce myself. With links for added bonus!

I'm Goatjuggler. I own a farm of "fainting goats" which I scare the bejeezus out of and proceed to pick up and juggle. So far 3 is my max. Four at a time was a disaster. (Kidding about all that, btw) My nick on the interweb used to be Goatherder based off of Eddie Murphy's fake occupation in "Coming to America" but I ran into situations where the nick had already been taken, so I pulled this out of my *ahem*.

I'm a 30 year old Software Quality Engineer in the vicinity of Harrisburg, PA with my 4th consecutive season pass for Hersheypark. They still have an awesome arcade with plenty of classics, of which I plan to take plenty of pics soon. (Rampage!)

My first experiences with gaming/computing were the TI-99/4A and the Apple IIc.
That's where it all started. WYSIWYG on the Apple IIc anyone? I typed up all my reports in I think WordPerfect back then, and remember 1 fateful day where it locked up after ~4 pages of work lost. My sister laughed her ass off at me, so I chased her around with a knife! (I was about 10 yrs old!) I'd NEVER harm my sister, but that's what lockups used to do to people. Now it's a bit more common, meh.

I then graduated to an Atari 2600, but after that, the folks told me that video games and computers were too expensive and wouldn't get me anywhere. LULZ!

As much as I'd like to collect EVERYTHING they didn't let me have, I'd much rather have the original of all the things I DID own back then. So that's my current collecting ambition. I've matured a little bit above teenager level, so I know unpacking & playing a game I haven't played in 25 years isn't going to solve my current problems, but it certainly gives me a high that no drugs ever have, and believe me I've tried ;D.

Aside from classics, I got a launch day Wii, second-hand, a few days after launch day on a spur of the moment, and although I haven't played it much since Wii Sports, I've been messing around with Wii Homebrew and loving it. Getting back to C after ~12 years is like meeting up with an old friend with whom you've had differences in the past, but you're willing to look past that and move on. LULz! (geek, I know).

So I've got a lotta searching to do, but I love doing it and I'm hella glad there's a community like this out there for us types CHEERS!

I have visited this forum several times before, but I finally decided to register This is me, in short:

Sondre, 17 years old, Vestby, Akershus, Norway, Tellus, Milky Way.

I grew up with two older brothers (and a little sister) having no more than a NES console and a, at that time, high-end laptop my dad used to take home from work. The games I played the most, were Super Mario Bros. and Super Pang! (Sachen), aswell as Mega Man IV and Street Gangs. My favourites on the computer were Day of the Tentacle, Police Quest and Kings Quest.

I started collecting video games and video game related stuff for about 5 years ago, when I found out that it would be fun to get hold of a NES and bring back some memories from my childhood. Although i started collecting about 5 years ago, I did not take the hobby "serious" until a year or two later. Other than having a huge interest in video game and video game culture, I love taking photos in my spare time. In the winter seasons, I go twin tip-ing with my friends.

    My handhelds:
    Gameboy
    Gameboy Pocket
    Gameboy Color
    Gameboy Advance
    Gameboy Advance SP
    Gameboy Micro
    Nintendo DS
    Nintendo DS Lite
    Sega GameGear
    Atari Lynx
    Sony PSP

    My consoles:
    Nintendo Entertainment System
    Super Nintendo Entertainment System
    Nintendo 64
    Gamecube
    Nintendo Wii
    Sega Master System
    Sega Megadrive
    Sega Megadrive II
    Atari 2600
    Atari 2600 Jr.
    Amiga 500
    Commodore 64
    Commodore 64c
    Sinclair ZX Spectrum 48k
    Philips CD-i 450
    PlayStation
    PlayStation One
    PlayStation 2
    Xbox 360

Most of the consoles are complete with box and manuals/inlays, and I do have several variants/bundles of most of them

Other than being a member here, I am currently an active forum admin for www.retro1.no. I am also registered at www.cowabunga.se.

    Default ahhhh

So I've been lurking here for a month or so and I am just getting around to registering.. gosh everyone seems so knowledgeable here..

Anyway I'm 28 from Orange County, California. Been playing games since the NES days. I'd say my favorite 3 consoles would be SNES, Dreamcast, and PSX in that order. I miss all the arcades that have disappeared in recent years, and still visit the ones that are still around in my area when I can. I wouldn't say I'm a hardcore gamer, I rarely beat the games I own. Nor am I a hardcore collector (at least compared to everyone here). I tend to think I read about games alot more than I play them. Either way, they have been my pastime and hobby for over 20 years and that is saying something. Alot of times I can hear a song on the radio and it will remind me of the game I was playing at the time... i.e. Desert level of Mario 64 is recollected when I hear "Going the Distance" by Cake; and Foo Fighter's "Everlong" always reminds me of Rage Racer.

anyway my consoles and game counts:

    ps2 - 48 games and 24 psx games
    jps2 - 1 and 1 jpsx
    gamecube - 17
    xbox - 11
    dreamcast - 28
    32x - 10
    genesis - 14
    snes - 21
    nes - 33

    handhelds with game counts:

    psp - 5 games
    nds - 7 and 12 gba
    atari lynx - 5

Not too shabby, not too sizeable... I prefer to think of it as a "really well-balanced" collection, with a good cross-section of all the best games for each respective system. I'm always on the hunt for great "in the wild" finds, in factory-sealed or mint-condition whenever possible. I just enjoy the chase I suppose. I have an unhealthy urge toward those factory sealed games in particular, I dunno... just something -special- about de-virginizing a game.

Hey everyone. I'm Kristian, I'm 20 years old and I live in Canada.

I don't even know how I stumbled across this website but I'm glad I did haha.

My favorite games would have to be...wow there is just so much to pick from but I would have to go with the Final Fantasy series, only because I could just play those game for the whole day and not realize it. other games would have to be Vectorman 1 and 2...sheesh I know there is more but nothing else is coming to mind!

I mainly collect whatever I like or appeals to me or if its a game I've never heard of and just look strange and odd. I try to look for sega genesis games that are still boxed (its my favorite system)

my Collection started to grow when I was a wee little boy...started out with a NES then a Sega Genesis moves onto a N64, PS1, DC, PS2, Xbox, Gamecube, Xbox 360 and a Wii. I would have loved to have got a Saturn and all those other systems but when I was younger we couldn't afford those things. Now that I'm older I will be looking to buy one.

My collection went from being a fairly large size to nothing but the systems...the games somehow disappeared, I believe somebody within my family (Uncle) took the box I had my games in and I didn't notice for around a year or less...we were in the middle of moving and most of my things and my parents things (that we didnt need) were stored in the basement until we found a place for them and got settled in. my systems were in a different box in a different part of the basement so i still kept those. so for the past 3 years I have not been adding to my collection but rebuilding my collection. I'm sitting at about 124 games, and still have my original systems minus a couple of gameboys. My friend knew I was collecting video games so he gave me his Game Gear, PS2 and Gamecube. None of them worked but I fixed them myself so they are all working now.

Looks like it's my turn at bat

I found the forums by looking around to find a rarity guide. I found one I decided to register to get some questions answered about a prototype cart I got my hands on.

I collect for just about anything I can get my hands on... little bit of this, little bit of that. Mostly post Atari 2600 and up. I'm always looking for oddities, obscure games, so on and so forth... like most of you. I also display my collection proudly, everything is set up neatly and fully playable whenever I choose. Gotta get my fourth switchbox soon

I'll look for a "post yer collection" thread before I jack this one with pics.

    Default Introduction

Hi, I'm Mike Jennings-Offen from Los Angeles, CA; originally from Washington, DC. I don't remember how I first found the forums here, I think I may have been in search of a Wico Y cable and googled my way into insanity-- and no, I still don't have that cable thank you very much, and for that matter, where the hell is my CD-i gamepad; but I digress...

I'm more of a hardware junkie than an actual connoisseur of vintage games, though I do enjoy a good game of Joust or Burger Time, I spend a lot more time with my PS3 than my Vectrex. I guess I enjoy the hunt a lot more than the reward... I'm sure I'm not alone. I've got a link to my 'room of doom' in my signature, please come on bye and check it out.

In "real life" I'm a "Video Production Manager," but it's the editorial work that I get a real kick out of. I'm also an avid homebrewer and general diy freak. If anybody here is interested in home brewing beer, check out my website, I've got a page about Zymurgy, the whole how to thing and a huge tome of recipes well worth the (free) download.

That's it for me-- see you in the forums.

Hi I'm Penny I'm 18 and from Michigan. I found this site while browsing through a discussion on cheapassgamer about rare games and I thought I'd check this site out.. My favorite games would have to be anything in the Zelda series from the n64 and onward. I'm a student at the moment. My first system was the atari 7800 but we couldn't find any games for it other then ms pacman and it eventually got lost in a couple moves. I just got in to gaming, and am buying back some of the stuff I owned as a kid and eventually lost. I'm currently working on buying all the diffrent colors of Us n64 console and I have about 4 so far and I'm working on building up a decent collection of games. I'm also collecting games for the gamecube( my favortie system) and most recently the snes. This will be my first time owning one so it'll be interesting.I also have a 360, a ds which I just got rid of and a psp. Those don't get nearly as much playing time though. I love rpgs and hate fps.

    Red face Hi!

I'm Jenn, currently of San Francisco and formerly of Chicago. I am 26. I have long been an ardent, unregistered lurker at the DP forums. And earlier this year, as I distinctly remember, these forums had the greatest RetroDuo thread ever, which is to say, the last time I very nearly registered was in April.

I'm not sure how I first found the forums, but my friend ubersaurus (AKA Kevin) semi-persuaded me to finally sign up. I guess right now my main squeezes include import DS games, titles disseminated via digital distribution, and rail shooters. I also play a lot of DOS adventure games -- my current avatar of dubious morality is actually my Yserbius character over at INN Revival. Maybe I will edit an actual 'favorite game' in later.

As for collecting, I buy mostly for SNES and Virtual Boy (and Wii and PS2 and 360), but my real focus is 2600 games, including homebrew. I am also the proud owner of a Gizmondo with a near-complete library of launch titles -- but that doesn't mean that I am a collector, just that I have a collection, I guess.

I began collecting because I had very dim memories of some videogames from my earliest, earliest childhood. They say you can't remember things that far back, and so I'd become really fixated with finding these old 2600 games just to prove to myself that I could remember my mom and dad clearly. Sometime in high school, my best friend surprised me with a heavy-sixer of my own, and tons of cartridges from thrift stores. We made a game of me describing a vague image, then guessing from among the titles on the floor which it was. We made a game of it. I found what I was looking for.

I used to work and podcast with other game journalists at a company. These days, I am a very happy full-time freelancer who ekes by. As a hobby I keep a games-centric blog over here. I also collect vinyl art toys and read comics.

    hello
    my name is joey
and i have been obsessed with video games for most of my life.
it started with the atari 2600
and was continued with the commodore 64.
then it was nes and snes.
eventually i was taken from the nintendo world
    with the psx.
by the time i got a ps2 i realized i usually had more fun with older systems
so thats when my collecting really started.
i currently own 15 unique consoles
    with multiple versions of most.

    and my most current project
is collecting a full ntsc set of n64 games

Hello, my name is Yannick, I'm a 25 y.o. french retrogamer from Paris.
My first videogames were game&watch in 1985, my first console was a nes with R.O.B and grey zapper for christmas ... in 1988 or 1989 ? (omg it's the 20 years of my nes) Few years later "Papa Noël" bring me a Megadrive. Then I've bought Super Nintendo, gx-4000, game-gear, mega-cd, 32X, psx, gameboy pocket, dreamcast, twin famicom, master-system, gamecube, gba, gba sp, ds, psp, and that all for the moment. (but a wii should come soon).

Now I have near 250 nes games, 150 megadrive (32X, cd) games and 50 nintendo game & watch. Between 20-50 games for each other systems (but I don't collect them)
I've sold my master-system, super nintendo and twin famicom.

I need more nintendo nes games

I'm Luis and I'm 24 years old. I'm a business major that has been collecting classic gaming for 3 years. I collect pretty much anything from any brand especially Famicom! I think the Famicom is a unique console. I especialize in pirate famicom carts which I find some to be unique. I have a decent collection from just collecting for three years which include over 400 Famicom games and 100 pirate games, Gameboy games, SNES around 300, and much much more. The reason I do this is because I want to accomplish something great with my life and leaving such a collecting to my kids although I don't have any but in the future I will is something great. Anyways, message me if you want to talk Famicom!! HAHAHAHHA AWAAAAAAAAAAAAAA I hope to hang around here for a while!

Hiya, my names David and I'm 16. I'm from Alberta, Canada. I found the forums when i was looking for game room pictures and found the godly room of doom section. I'm into new games and older stuff, though I don't have much of a collection yet. I'd like to collect pretty well everything but i think i will work a bunch on the Super Nintendo the most for now. I wanted to start collecting ever since i saw people with their massive collections, I find a way to enjoy almost any video game so i hope to get a collection half as good as all the ones out there.
