    Default Donkey Kong Killl Screen

    Level 117, I believe.

Has anyone gotten to it? Has anyone seen it? I've never come close. But, I've just started to restore my DKJr cocktail, and I did some research on the two DK games. I'd love to someday to be able to get to it.

It's a strange idea, the killl screen (misspelled intentionally so that this does not read the kill screen). Does anyone know of any other arcade games with similar "killl" screens that are impossible to beat? It's strange to me that they just didn't let the game loop. And, something really only from games of old where memory was limited.

On a related topic. Does anyone have any idea why Nintendo decided to change the screen order for DK and DKJr? It just doesn't make any sense to me, and confuses gamers who see Mario get beat up in DKJr when you haven't even finished all the screens.

I haven't personally seen it, but Billy Mitchel at the Midwest Gaming Classic made it there. That was pretty slick.

from what i gathered on the article on twin galaxies, the game doesnt crash like PacMans killscreen, but the timer is so low that its impossible to beat the level without time running out, so it sounds intentional and a screenshot would not truly distinguish it from a standard level

I'm speaking about the arcade version.

Like Chrisbid said, the screen is nothing special, just one that is virtually impossible to get by. It's just a VERY hard thing to do.

I love DK arcade but my high is only about 150k or so (although I KNOW I can do better..). I only heard about the "crash screen" not that long ago when I read it on the net. And yes, apparently it is a screen where it's impossible to beat due to the time restriction.. probably something that's easily patched (much like the patch that takes away the 255 split screen in Pacman that's burned in some roms for arcade collectors).

But anyway, It makes me wonder.. I wonder if the crash screen is the same on the Japanese vs. the American versions. Because as we all know the Jap DK always has 4 stages per level.. ALWAYS. While of course the u.s. version varies (2 stages in level 1, 3 stages in level 2, etc. up to a max of 6 stages per level).

So, I wonder if the crash screen happens on the same or a different stage (i.e. on a ramps, conveyer belt, elevator, or rivets stage), or does it get surpassed alltogether as a result of the different level progression?

Would be interesting to find out.. for me at least :P
