Default Postage from Germany to UK ...

Some guy wants to charge me 14 Euros to post one Megadrive game from Germany to the UK. Is it just me, or is that a completely unreasonable price? I don't remember having to pay that much postage on any single game I have bought from anywhere in the world?!?!?

German post is pretty expensive, but EUR 14,- seems a bit high for a single game... I usually pay 2,50 - 4.00 for a loose Atari 2600 game. You could check www.post.de for the actual prices...

I know it is more expensive than UK post, but I have bought many games from Germany before, and have never been charged more than 10 Euros - for a single game usually 6 - 8 Euros.

I think I would be within my rights to challenge that amount, as it appears to be about double what the reasonable charge would be.

He's probably lookin for a few extra euro's for nothin, and 14euro's is around £9 0r £10 so it is abit high, but if you ask i'm guessin he'll just say that the 14 is the cost of postage and the packaging.

This time last year i bought a Donkey Kong sign, it was about 20" high 30" wide and i got it for $17.95, i'm in the UK and the seller was in the US she got back to me and told me the full total (item and shipping) would be $75

I paid, because i was away on hoildays and i was paying for 10 or 12 different items i had won, this was one of them, when i got the sign its postage was $22, i knew it was gunna be a rip off.

But i got back to the seller and told her the actual shipping rate, she said she had to make money somewhere, so i told her, that i hated leaving Negative feedback, and after alot of emailing i got $24 back off the seller, which was better than nothing.

It's best to stick to your guns at all times, especially with sellers from different countrys, but i can say i have bought "ALOT" of stuff from US and Canadian ebayers and have only had one problem which was summer last year, but i got it sorted out in the end with alittle help

He's taking the piss. I wouldn't pay more than €7-8 unless it was something really special.

his ID woulnt contain the letters RBS would they ?
he charged me €11.50 post for a similar game (the game was only €1)
I complained when I sent the money, he didnt reply/explain, so I thought I would check when the item arrived, but it had no post costs markings
it amazes me as I can send a game to germany for £2.50ish ??? surely thier postal system cannot be that diffrent.

no rbs in the name ...

I am pretty sure that Germany --> UK airmail costs more than UK --> Germany. I have bought quite a few things from a couple of good German sellers, and they generally charge 6-8 Euros for a single game. Since I have a pretty good relationship with them I am fairly confident that they are not ripping me off.

This guy is another matter .. I will email him and see what he says. Perhaps he is including insurance or express delivery or something.

you can check it over there, i calculated for 250g for € 4,- / 500g for € 6,- i don't think a Megadrive game is heavier then that

If he ships it as "Päckchen" shipping will be 12,90Euro. Our Post is so expensive

Well, I queried the postage with him and he conceded that he could do it for 9 Euros, which I accepted.

I am aware that German post is more expensive - however I also buy many games from Germany, and most sellers seem to be able to offer a reasonable price. Many of the sellers I have bought from regularly charge only 5 Euros for a single game .. and when I received one recently, the postage label was 4 Euros - so they are certainly not losing any money on it!

P.S. Thanks for the offer hydr0x .. fortunately, a polite email seems to have done the trick this time
