He's also paying me in mountains of games and systems that were purchased from unwitting members of our community for small sums of cash.

As someone who detests smoking and the smell of it, but grew up in a smokers household:
I found (when I moved all my old stuff into my apt a while back) that you could easily tell that nes games smelled like smoke, however after having stuff moved out for over 6 months, even if you *tried* to sniff the carts, I don'y find it noticable any more, it's like they were aired out.
