Default Help me prove that I'm not just insane

For some reason, this one game popped into my head today, and I can't for the life of me find any signs of its existence. I remember reading about this one SNES game in Nintendo Power in issue 70-80-something. It was in one of those issues just before they started switching over to Nintendo 64 coverage. I seem to recall it being some crappy looking fighter with a dark theme and some superhero type guy that was kind of like a poor man's Spawn. I'm thinking it was called something like "Labo" but I could just completely be on crack about that.

All my Nintendo Power issues are at my mom's house on the other side of the country, so I can't look it up myself. I'd greatly appreciate any confirmation that I'm not insane and completely making this up in my head. :)

    Could it be this?

The title sounded vaguely familiar (Labo = Lobo?)

Yup, that's probably it. o_O Appears that it was planned but didn't come out on Genesis too.

When I hear "Poor Man's Spawn" I think what you may have seen was Venom? I know there are a couple Venom games, and that would match up in some peoples minds. I have never played this game mentioned though, so just another suggestion.

I seriously doubt people consider venom the poor man's spawn considering venom was introduced before Todd McFarlane left to form image....

ironically enough lobo also predates spawn...

yep I'm showing my comic geek colors.

I thought Lobo came out for SNES? Wasn't there a review for it in NP?

Lobo is one of the many potentially great 16BIT Genesis/SNES games that got lost in limbo. If it ever was released, it was probably in Europe only. That's where most of the games that we were all waiting for over here that never showed up ended up seeing the light of day. If only I had known about them all back then. It's pretty expensive to import them all now. The damned Brits and their obscenely overvalued money make obtaining any game from Europe nearly impossible. If they aren't overbidding on stuff like that, they're overcharging for it, because they know that they're the only ones who got it all. I hear that most of those games are worth the money though. Even the crappiest of them are still supposed to be pretty good.

I was about to say Phantom 2049.

...While we're on the subject, I remember another SNES game in NP from around that time that was said to be Contra-like, with anime-style graphics. Something about bio-androids. It might have been an Amiga port. (No, it wasn't Run Saber.)

Anyway, anyone have screenshots of this Lobo game?

Hey, it's hardly our fault that your economy is going down the toilet. The blame lies somewhat closer to home.

If it was an Amiga port, the only game that kind of fits the description that I can think of right now would be Turrican 3 -> http://hol.abime.net/1537/screenshot

Oh, that? I started a new thread about that a while ago. It turned out the game in question was Realm.
