was it on nickelodeon? did it have games like paperboy, r-type, and chuck rock that the contestants played for points?
Edit: it was called Nick Arcade
Despite that horrible description, I'm guessing "Starcade".

Speaking of Nick Arcade, it is still shown weekends on Nick Gas which I get on Digital Cable. I should start recording them.
Wasn't there another gaming show on Nick? I'm about to record Nick Arcade tonight (I don't remember it), but I reember a show earlier than that. They played Geo (and other) games and I remember drooling over Last Resort among others. They got asked a question and then had to play for a high score.
Yes there was another video game show on nick, because I remember them playing super ghouls and ghost for the high score... Cant remember the name..
I remember one show from the early 90s where you played games and answered questions, and the winner got to run through a giant maze and stick video games all over their body using velcro. If you made it through the maze, you got to keep all the games you had. Is this the one you were thinking of?
I remember this one show too, where some people showed up, and played some games and stuff, and won some stuff after they did that cool thing with the secret...stuff...y'know...in the game...thing. Whatchamacallit.
Uh...you sure it wasn't Starcade?
Yeah, that's right! My memory is coming back, just not the title. They were "in" the video game. It was awful. They got hit when they shouldn't of. Come on, someone out there HAS to know the title.
Oh, sorry to kinda threadjack, but it is kinda on topic.
Maybe i'm just nuts, but I remember there was this old videogame show on Fox (?) that had a cartoon between rounds starring numorus acclaim characters in it. It was on when I was in kindergarten so I don't remember much, but i'm know it existed.
Tradegamesnow and GameTZ feedback.
The show where they were 'in' the video game was Nick Arcade. I remember things didnt even touch them but they lost life.
I found a link with screencaps for people that arent sure what it is.

Sounds like "Video Power".

There was this one show, I think it was Nick Arcade....but during the final 5 minutes of the show, they put this suit on the kid (Velcro) and you had to race through the maze and grab all the games you could...I remember the games being Turbo Grafx 16, GameBoy, NES, SNES, and Genesis
Edit: Mr Smashy hit it on the nail, it was VIDEO POWER, When i was living in Monroe Louisana I used to watch that show everyday after school at 4pm
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
Anyone from the tri-state area remember the old WPIX channel 11 from the early 80's? You would call in on the phone and say PIX as a game like Space Zap was on the tv screen. Everytime a target entered the middle of the screen you would say Pix and it would shoot. The more points you got the better prizes you received.

it sounds like video power, if i remember correctly, there were two phases for it, in the first one, you had to answer some video game related trivia, then run with the velcro thingies.
After a season or so, they changed it into the video power wich had the akklaim characters as the main team.
The team consisted of:
bigfoot
kwirk
megaman?
game boy?
Also a long time i saw it as a big captain N rip off, even if both shows sucked.
Man now that this topic has been surface I cant figure out what other video game show was on nick. I am 99% sure it wasnt nick arcade, because those photos look nothing like the show i remember. It featured games like monsters in my pockets, and super ghouls and ghost. Dont mean to thread jack.
Yeah, Nick Arcade is it. Odd, my DVR info has the show dating from 1999. That's what threw me off. Man, between this and classic Double Dare, this is becoming the best station on TV.
I think I'm describing a show that someone else has allready mentioned, but when I was a kid I remember watching a syndicated show. Not sure about the exact years, but I KNOW it was on in 91 and 92. It was a half hour long and they would pull random kids out of the auidence. The game show consisted of three people squaring off aganist each other in a game -- Castlevania or Conta or Ninja Gaiden or something else popular. It was timed -- whowever had the most points after a few minutes won. Then the second part was that winner had a minute to run through a 'store' like area and grab as much stuff as he/she could carry in their arms. I'm almost SURE there was no velcro involved -- you just grabbed what you could. Nintendo, Sega, Turbo-Graphix stuff....I recall all of that, sure, along with Game Boy stuff. They normaly had time for about 3-4 of these games repeated in the half hour of the show.
I just can't recall the name of it for the life of me -- I KNOW it was'nt on Nick as it was syndicated, and it had a male host.

Soul Blazer, you are describing Video Power.
