Default Help with Sega Master System please!

ok, i got 2 Sega Master System II PAL consoles (1 has been guaranteed to work) i bought them without cables, i recently got my hands on a RF unit controller and power adaptor.

after hooking it up i spent about 3hrs trying to tune it into 2 different TVs with no luck.

I then decided to open the RF unit to see if anything was wrong, the wires inside had broken off and i have no idea where they go (the broken cable is the cord that goes from the RF unit to the back of the TV, i know where 1 of the wires goes but not the other)

i plugged in one of the systems and tried to put the wires in the correct places, all i could get was a white strip through the middle of the screen and all rest is black. then i tried connecting the system directly to the TV without the RF adaptor...with the same white strip and rest is black. (do you even need the RF adaptor? it seems just to be a switch between TV and the game console)
also it seems weird...i plugged in the console with the official sega power supply and i had not such white strip...it was just fuzzy like no signal. But when i use a 3rd party 9v 850ma power adaptor it shows the white strip (the console requires 9v 500ma, while the official adaptor is 9v 1000ma <- just so you know i didn't burn it out with the 3rd party adaptor)

    i just really need help...please!

    Thanks
does anyone know what this white strip means? is the console defective?

Hmmm, do you mean, the thing you opened up is the separate rf block which has a switch in the middle?

If so, this switch is uneccesay, inless u have other RF leads u wanna use into the TV

From that pic you showed me, yours trying to use a composite lead for an RF (the yellow one), which i dont think will work (i might be wrong!)

Also are you tryin this with a Game in in? or the built in game?

right then thats your problem! your trying to use a composite lead in an rf! thats your only problem!

what you need is one of these:

a lead with those ends... you can find them at like electrical stores

and with that you should be up and running!

well yes it is on...unless there is more to do than push the switch to the on position.

well obviously getting another console wont help

since i have 2 and both do exactly the same thing and 1 was guaranteed to work.

i think it has something to do with the power supply maybe

You need a new RF adaptor, or one of the AV leads Sega used to make for the Genny. On the RF adaptor, one from an NES/Super NES/etc. should word fine.

I don't know if this will help, but I believe I read in the SMS II manual that you need to tune to channel 36 or something. It was definitely a channel in the 30's.

You could try one of those "phono to f adapter" things to plug the RF directly into the TV, but you would need a cable. I though a normal RCA cable would work, but I could be wrong. The RF cable is probably better anyway.

If that doesn't work it is either your system or your television. You said you had two master systems. Try them both with the same RF switch, or try the "broken" one with whatever you use to hook up your working one.

tried all that, on both consoles on 3 different TVs now, same result..did auto and manual searches and all i can get is the black line thing. and it goes away when the console is off. i know the problem isn't the console or the TVs
