Two separate emails confirming what I thought:
    North American Release
International Superstar Soccer-Konami released in North America June 1995
International Superstar Soccer Deluxe-Konami released in North America November 1995.

Anything on the box as listed for SALE in USA, Canada, and Latin America only is considered a North American release, as apparently it is one entity. Similar to how European releases are grouped together for systems over there at least to "us" here in the United States. Apparently ISS and ISS Deluxe exist in this form both with ESRB ratings, so there is your answer, and to why it also contains USA part numbers and info like other releases such as ISS2000 and Mr. Pants.

As a once-in-a-while section editor around here, I support the idea of regrouping our releases into something like North America, Japan, Europe, and World. I think production should dictate where a game is grouped, and not distribution. We can have solid facts on production, we can never know exactly where a game was distributed.

Makes sense. We have a country field that can be used for North American non-US titles that can be verified (Mr Pants). But would it be "Japan" or "Asia" and where would Australia fit in the mix (World or Europe(which would make more sense))?

100% agreed. Australia & Hong Kong/Asia might still cause headaches, but there will always be occasionally odd cases no matter how you break these things down.

Works for me. Depends on what DP says towards it though. Sizable overhaul it would be, changing US Releases to North American Releases, and the subsqeuent regrouping.

My vote on AU would be group with Europe. Hong Kong/Taiwan is a harder thing to define.

So, to threadjack a bit, anyone have a problem with making Sachen a World release? I just got the odded sensation of deja vu.. did we have this world release discussion before?

I'd group Australia with Europe, Hong Kong/Taiwan and Sachen as World. World would be a catch-all "other," in my eyes.

    absolutely agreed, additonally i'd say:

South/Middle American NTSC = North America (or whatever you want to call that group=

    South/Middle American PAL = Europe
    South African PAL = Europe

Surely they would all be World, no?
There's already the PAL Y/N field in the db to seperate those.

I dunno, they have a lot more in common with European releases than the others you mentioned (and are often identical other than the barcode).
To me, they just seem to 'fit' better with the Euro games, though I'll go along with the general consensus on it. Could just label the category 'Europe/Australia' or something to avoid misunderstandings.

Any of the data I sent in regarding Playstation releases (and anything on my own list) was based on the release divisions that Sony uses internally - that is, there is an area called NTSC-U/C that includes all North American releases. I'm not sure how Nintendo divied it up, but if the game was a) commercially released, and b) intended to play on North American Nintendo systems, then you should consider it in the same list as US releases. Was "Fifa 98: Rumbo al Copa Mundial" released in the US? I don't know, but I know that both Dangerboy and I found copies in the US, and it's an NTSC-U/C release with part number. I agree with DreamTR's reasoning in this thread.

    Guhday,

I see you have a "Mortal Kombat 2 Expert" in your caption. I'm just curious, since this is a old school forum basically. How does that game relate to here? Not yanking your chain, or being a bugger about it, but I find that a bit odd.

Oh, yeah, my question: Does a MINT CONDITION BOXED Gyromite NES exist?

    Cheers!

DreamTR (8:15:50 PM): so I finally got to the bottom of stupid ISS and Deluxe
DreamTR (8:15:55 PM): they were going to ship them in the USA
DreamTR (8:16:13 PM): when they struck a deal with some mexican distributor to exclusively have the NA rights over there
DreamTR (8:16:33 PM): this from two Konami employees that were there at the time, one is head of marketing, other works at Midway now
DreamTR (8:16:38 PM): so never in the USA
DreamTR (8:17:01 PM): was it shipped anywhere just Mexico NTSC with the ESRB stuff, that is why it has all the usa info
PortnoyC8X (8:18:31 PM): so we were right?
DreamTR (8:19:29 PM): yes and no, the collector's lists needs to be rehauled as North American, and not US, because if someone shows that box to anyone, and the manual, and Santulli, it's a no brainer that it came out here, same with Mr Pants
DreamTR (8:19:38 PM): It is on official Nintendo lists
DreamTR (8:19:43 PM): and that's a big deal these days
DreamTR (8:19:52 PM): but I am still verifying one or two GBA games
DreamTR (8:19:55 PM): that may be shoddy
PortnoyC8X (8:19:56 PM): but, with your story, we were right?
DreamTR (8:20:09 PM): that it was only released in Mexico?
    PortnoyC8X (8:20:19 PM): yessum
    DreamTR (8:21:49 PM): yes
    PortnoyC8X (8:21:54 PM): haha pwn3d

I find it odd that someone with one post thinks he knows what "relates to here" and what doesn't. I quote the line at the very top of every page on this forum:

"Meet the gamers with a decidedly retro edge. Remember Burgertime, Jungle Hunt, Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage and Radiant Silvergun but have no problem wreaking havoc in Halo? Well then... welcome home."
