    Default Online PS2 games?

I searched through here, and haven't been able to find a post asking which PS2 games are online-capable? Ratchet and Clank 3 has a terrific multiplayer online mode, and I am hoping for more free online goodness.

I know Hot Shots 4, and tons of other sports games. Anything else interesting or fun? Not Everquest, either, since that is pay to play, and that's terrible.

There are so many free online PS2 games that the list would be quite big.

The first one was one of the Tony Hawk games. There's stuff like Champions of Norrath and it's brand new crappy sequel. Most racers are online too.

Godzilla: Save the Earth has an online mode. I'm not sure how good it is though.

Thanks. What are the favorites, though? I mean, Ratchet and Clank 3 is definitely a great one, but I am guessing that a lot of things like Tony Hawk really aren't that fun. Oooh, he just did a trick, so did I, etc...

I'll have to try Frequency and Amplitude (although I still can't find Amplitude).

I like Star Wars: Battlefront, SOCOM II, and Madden 2005 for on-line. Be warned that SOCOM and Star Wars require lots of memory card space for updates. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 and 4 on-line is OK. Not amazing, but it definitely adds value to the game once you get tired of single player or want to play some quick games against some other people. It's been awhile since I've played on-line, so I'm not sure how active it is (or even if it's still available).

Champions of Norrath is fun to play on-line, even though the on-line setup is awful (no chat rooms, no buddy lists, etc.). I've heard the sequel, Return to Arms, is supposed to be better for on-line, but I haven't played it myself.

Some games I've heard are good that have an on-line component, but which I haven't played myself: Burnout 3, Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater (I think just downloadable content), Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Mortal Kombat: Deception, ESPN NHL 2k5, EPSN NFL 2k5.

As far as I know, the only "pay" on-line games for the PS2 so far are Final Fantasy XI and Everquest.
