Let me re-frase that question. I know what the Konami code is, but when it is done in Gradius III on the SNES it blows up your ship. I seem to remember that there was some variation of the code for this game. Anyone remember what it is?
Thanks

Condoleezza Rice is nice, but I prefer A Roni!
Thank you very much for the super quick reply. So it would appear that the LRLR part has simply been moved to the shoulder buttons. I think it is very funny that the original code on the directioal pad causes your ship to explode. Like the programmers are laughing at you!

That's absolutely hillarious. There's actually a Indie Rock band by that name too (up up down down etc....) - really.
I have always wondered, does this code exist in EVERY Konami game to date? I can't imagine that it does.
More specifically, is it in Snatcher or the MGS series?
I don't think so ... besides the PS doesn't have B or A buttons!!! The horror!!! :P
you know what's sad? People who wear T-Shirts with that code on it...and have NO idea where it originated from...just says "Know the Code!"
These cartridges are dirty as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore!
I think one of the funniest moments in my life was when I was talking to a co-worker of mine, and the subject of old Nintendo games came up for some reason. I was wearing that code shirt (I got it for Christmas), with this kind of thin button-up thing over it.Originally Posted by Ghouls 'N Ghosts

"Remember?!" I rip open my overshirt, revealing the code on my chest. "Bitch, I'm WEARING that code!"
that was hilarious *wipes tear*
Hah! I have a shirt that says "The Code: "
And then lists the code. That shirt rules. I like explaining it to folks who don't know what it is. I basically explain that it's the most famous VG cheat code in history, blah, blah, blah.
I give major props to the folks that call it "the Konami code" right off the bat when seeing my shirt rather than the more common response: "the Contra code."
It is not in every Konami gamke by far. I believe the first game to use it was Gradius, then Contra, then LifeForce, then (backwards) Gyruss, then Gradius III (SNES, with a var. to the code mentioned above).
There were plenty of Konami games from the early days that didn't use it: Rush N Attack, Double Dribble, Stinger, Castlevania, etc, etc.

The moral is, don't **** with Uncle Tim when he's been drinking!
reminds me of a kid in my school who wears a nintendo shirt and didn't know what the DS was besides "the new gamboy thing"... x_xOriginally Posted by Ghouls 'N Ghosts

I don't remember the title of the SNES game, but some action/RPG game by Konami actually had you go into a store where a shopkeeper said,
"If you enter the code: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, Start...
Nothing will happen!"
I thought it was cute.
Everything is yellow to a jaundiced eye.

There's an episode of Invader Zim where they say the code. (Except they say 'A,B,B,A start' instead of 'B,A start'). According to the commentary, they showed it at a convention and people started cheering.
The Code has kind of fallen out of use in recent years, but some recent games that DID use it were Gradius Galaxies for the GBA, Konami Arcade Advance for the GBA, and Gradius V for the PS2.

I think the TMNT game for GC/PS2/Xbox uses it as well, although IIRC all it does is make your footsteps sound funny in the game. Kinda lame, but at least they put it in there.

If you tried the code in the Parodius games, all you get is a text balloon with "OH MY GOD!!!" in it.
