I don't hate it,it's a crappy game but it can be enjoyed if you ask me.
I thought it was rather craptacular myself.
It was really bad...I couldn't make it very far at all. A crappy game can be played if it is reasonable...with difficulty...but this was just beyond me.
lets put it this way... it was one of those nes games that you wouldnt pay a dollar for and wouldnt pay for more than 2 minutes. yeah.
I liked it, I have a copy of it, and I'm pretty selective about my library (only 100 or so NES).
The graphics are nice, level designs are unique, and the plot is even sort of interesting for an 8-bit title.
The only outstanding negative I can fathom is that without the powerups your character sucks, but that's true for other games like Gradius, etc.
I don't understand the hate for SF: 2010. It's no masterpiece but it was pretty good if you're into action games like Strider.
It's not so bad as it is misunderstood. The main problem is that the first couple levels are so difficult (if you don't know what to do) that few can get into this game. It's not excellent by any stretch, but it's an above average game.
"And remember ladies: if it ain't tight, it ain't right!"
You have to spend TIME and practice to get good at this game (remember that concept?). Once you got the moves of the character down, I think it's actually pretty fun.. I still pop it in now and then. I've never been familiar with the plot since I have the Famicom version in jap. Definitely one of the more challenging NES games.. but not by bad design.
You know from what I remember this game isn't too bad if you have some patience. I recall that it is critical to power your guy up immediatly though otherwise the difficulty to outrageous. I would give it a 6/10.
I remember when this game first came out and I bought it new (well I'm sure that it was daddy that bought it new for young little Jive3D)
But I loved that game! Dang it was hard, but I had a great time with it.
The game isn't bad at all. In fact, it's incredibly fun, has some great music and graphics for its time, and is completely misunderstood.
The first 2 or 3 levels are extremely difficult (and somewhat bland, even), but once you get past that, you are in for a ride.
And really, the game isn't that hard. I beat it in a day or two when it came out.
Anyone who doesn't like this game should seriously give it another chance, it is a diamond in the rough.
It is seriously a great game, please give it another shot!

I think people would like it better if it wasn't a Street Fighter title. THey wouldn't judge it by those standards and take it for what it is, which is pretty damn fun.

It came out in 1990, so it would have been compared to the first Street Fighter. Not particularly high standards to measure up to...Originally Posted by Garry Silljo

Many of the posts on this thread, like on many other topics here, look at the game outside of the supposed time-space continuum (I don't believe in causality and plurality personally but thats mostly academic in this case....).
I can't help but be a little concerned when people try to judge a game within context rather than on it's own merits, but lord knows that happens all the time.
This discussion almost makes me want to check out SF2010 to find out for myself, it can't be expensive.
The first Street Fighter was awful though, as a proud owner of a home version I should know...
Well, you almost have to look at it in the context of its time. Of course, older games can be enjoyed today, but a lot of the time you just to 'have been there' to really understand it.
SF2010 was a good NES title that came on the heels of Final Fight. It's probably different to those who grew up after Street Fighter 2 conquered the world and fathered hundreds of fighting games. It was a good platformer with some impressive graphics and a good challenge. Your thumbs will get a workout.

I really liked this game back in the day, since I got it for Christmas the year it came out. I still like the game now, but everything everyone's said about it is true - it has quite a high learning curve, and like shooters such as Gradius, Raiden, or Life Force, your character is quite wimpy until you upgrade him. One of those "The Longer You Stay Alive, The Better Your Weapon Are" games.
Just practice a little with it! Like everyone said, the earlier levels can be an absolute PAIN until you learn the patterns, especially the forced-scrolling levels. Just give it a try, it's a pretty good little game

My brother and his friends absolutely LOVED Street Fighter in the arcade. I personally was barely big enough to reach the controls let alone hit the giant buttons hard enough to play (yeah, we had that version). So when they saw Street Fighter 2010 in the store they got really excited and gave it a try. Immediately they were mad and thought the game was crap without even beating the first oppenent, because they wanted a game like Street Fighter. So in the context of time, even though Street Fighter 1 was not as good as 2, it DID have a fanbase and this game tried to appeal, and dissapointed those fans. Myself having not been able to play in the arcades stuck with the game and thought it was a lot of fun. Eventually my brother went back to it after watching me play further and further and finally getting intrested. He likes it now, but not as a Street Fighter game.

whoa it makes me feel good that this is a game i have actually beaten...one day i started playing and i told myself i as NOT going to sleep until i beat it....i got to sleep at 5am...

Yeah, I've always really liked this game. The music is really cool, and it has that "Capcom" ambience--it reminds me a lot of Little Nemo, how every level is, aesthetically, a vast departure from the one before it. I think this game gets slammed a lot because, like Deadly Towers, Seanbaby blacklisted it.
I'm noticing a trend here--all the games that people are branding "teh worzt evuh" are not bad games; they just require a little patience and they require you to actually develop a skill.
