Ehhh. I can't say I'm impressed at all with this. I too bought Sonic Heroes when it first came out (a full $100AUS) and played it for about half an hour before I shelved it with disgust. I haven't played it since.
The Sonic universe is getting utterly retarded. What's so bad about sticking with the original characters? I mean, wow, Shadow has a gun. I don't play Sonic when I feel like a shooter (which is never, by the way ), I play Sonic when I want to run. Occasionally when I want to dig for urinal cakes. :P
I could say at least it's not a rehash, but Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 were wayyy better than that Sonic Heroes pile of dross. I WANTED to love that game, but I just COULDN'T. I can see the exact same thing happening here. What's so bad about keeping Sonic, Tails and Knux in their own game without any of the other characters? What's so bad about keeping the original running/exploring formula? There must be something glaringly obvious I'm missing, since Sega seems to be delibrately steering AWAY from what MADE Sonic so successful. There were like, 3 Shadow missions in Sonic Adveture 2 and a billion stupid Robotnik shooting ones. BAH.
Call me closeminded, but shooting doesn't belong in Sonic games, period.
Am i the only one here that wants an Xbox version?
This is why I love DP so much. We all have our own valid opinions, which we can express and discuss without flaming the smack out of each other.
Personally, I'm willing to give it a chance. Maybe make it a more cartoony gun, a ray gun of some sort. Or some sort of wrist-attatchment that shoots rockets :P
If it ends up being good, I'll end up getting it sooner than later. If its bad, I'll probably end up buying it somewhere down the line just to see for myself. I still have faith in Sonic Team and my favorite blue hedgehog and company.
In a land beyond sight...
I'll bite as well if it's a straight adventure game like SA1. Otherwise, I'll pass. SA2, SA2:B, and SH were too gimmicky to keep my interest.
The gun thing doesn't really bother me one way or another. It's a newish character with a new element to the Sonic universe.
To cite a recent example, people didn't go up in arms when the new Oddworld game was a FPS (probably because people don't CARE about the Oddworld universe....). It's a testament and a curse to the Sonic series that people are willing to get worked up over that kind of change.
It makes sense. Sonic is so PASSE now. He is getting on, and they need a new replacement for the new generation.
Sonic was designed for us. Kids today don't want our garbage, They want something new and improved. Hence, Shadow.
Plus, he also has the bonus of being EXACTLY like Sonic! So no loss there then.
Basically, Sonic is blue. He looks camp, and was designed for people of the 90's. Shadow is black and red. He looks cool. He looks hard, and not cutey like Sonic does. He even has a bit of an attitude.
Doesn't take a genius to see what people are demanding. Sega is just giving the people what they want.
Those are awesome, and I may just buy this game, seeing as how much I enjoyed Sonic Adventure 2.Originally Posted by turbos

So really what you are saying is that Shadow is really just a copy of the orginal Sonic, but packing heat.
Possibility is infinity! You must be satisfied!

I don't know you people, on every other thread, you are getting worked up about everything. On this one is about SA3 (tentatively named) includes shadow and he uses a gun. Hey, i don't know you, but change is welcomed round here, not just the same plain old stuff. Sure we all love the clasics, but THEY ARE CLASSICS, they are not meant exactly for us anyway.
Also a lot of you got all worked up with the revolution hopefully having dvd playback or bigger discs, and the classic "omg t3h nintendo i5 kiddi3' but let's not forget 'thank you nintendo for being one generation late for everything'.
Lemme get this straight, you can accept innovation when someone else does it, but not when nintendo is trying it? I'm just guessing, video games kinda kicked up again in the late 80's, early 90's because of who? yes, it was nintendo.
This may sound as yet another fanboy rant' but it's not just me who may see it like this.
Sure sega is trying to innovate using shadow for a game. IS IT THAT BAD FOR YOU PEOPLE? can't you just accept the fact that things change? what were the online play nay sayers saying when they announced live? it was something new, so they had to crap on it before just accepting it.
I just don't understand, you don't like something, you don't buy it. Just cause a lot of us are collectors, it doesn't mean to go and buy everything they shove up a store shelf. Show them you don't like the idea of revolution, or shadow, don't buy the damn game/system and you are all set!

Ok, please don't pay attention to the rant.

I liked Sonic heroes. It was a good game not the greatest but good nonetheless.
Im not sure how this game will turn out I think it could go either way
It's multiplatform.
And it's going to suck.
He's supposed to be the Ultimate being....why would something that has "Chaos Control" need a freakin' gun?Originally Posted by NintendoMan

It really bugs me when I read the development team speaking out about getting back to the roots of sonic, and now we're heading as far away from the originals as possible.
We're controlling a different main character, and he has a gun.
Why oh why can't they take a leaf out of Viewtiful Joe's book? 2D has its place, it just has to be beefed up a little. For me, Sonic will NEVER look or play right in 3D.
I haven't heard of this game in awhile. Has it come out yet, has production on it been halted, Or are developers going to release it on the next generation of consoles?

i said its false
all sonic games are more inovative than the next
I hadn't seen this thread until now.
The screenshots make the game look really cool. Any news on this?
looks like a flop to me... sega has to go back to sonic adventure 1 aspects with the RPG aspects... sonic adventure 2 was such a letdown :-(
