Jaguar BBQ
Awhile ago I posted about frying my Atari Jaguar To an NES Power Supply.

Anyway my uncle wanted to hook up his Jag and coulnt find the power cord "I told him I thought it was 12v DC" And of course poof of smoke its dead.
Anyone got a fix for this or is the thing dead.
Kinda late but Id also be interested in knowing what the power supply is since the fuckin ATARI people decided not to include it in the manual or on the system.

You could've just used any Genesis or Sega CD one. That's a pretty f**ked up way to find out if the PS is compatible. I think that info is readily available on the web and in FAQ's. There's probably some kind of internal protection to prevent it from being fried. It may be just one small, easily replacable part. Open her up and look.
The Jaguar does take 12v but if the power supply's rated amp is lower than the required amps, the power supply would melt. Also if you used power supply whose polarity is reversed or is AC and not DC output, then Jaguar is fried. I haven't looked inside a Jaguar before but here's a few thingts:
Is there an onboard fuse? That could be blown. If you used an adapter with AC output or reversed DC and Jaguar doesn't have a bridge, a lot can go wrong. All I can say is to open the Jag and look around near the power supply jack. If there's broken pieces of transistor or regulator, blackened fuse or resistor, or blown up remain of a capacitor then it could be repairable. If the board's all black and brown, you're probably SOL. But don't sweat it, Jaguar base system is fairly common and could be had from eBay for less than what most electronic technician charges just to look at the console.

btw- the Jag power supply is IDENTICAL to the orginal Sega Genesis & Sega CD p/s. Not only is it the same specs. but it actually looks like it was made out of the same mold when they made the plastic.
Oh and Jay Tilton's site rocks, I've had that one bookmarked now for years.
