Default Best way to loosen a stiff joystick?

I've got a Beeshu Ultimate Superstick for the SMS that is kind of stiff that I would like to loosen up a bit. I've got another Beeshu Ultimate stick just like it, but for the 2600, and it has a great feel to it. I'd like to get a better feel with the SMS one. Anyone know the best approach to take when dealing with this particular stick? Is it simply a matter of opening it up and knowing where to spritz a bit of WD-40? Is there some spring I need to replace? I don't want to open it up and start monkeying around with it until I get a plan of attack.

    anyways

Usually theres some screws in there with springs around them that you can unscrew slightly. I'm not an expert at joysticks but thats usually the solution. I dont think WD40 will do anything. unless you really wanna lube your joystick

KY usually does the trick, but i found it only lasts a few seconds, and the "joystick" gets stiff pretty quick!

But do try some WD40 (like squirrelnut said!), it should help the problem you have!

Thanks for the tip, Squirrelnut; does anyone have any other insight/experience with these Beeshu Joysticks that they could share before I open it up?

I wouldn;t use any oil based products like WD40 on plastics,,,,bad idea all around, imo.

Really? It's in the rarity database. Apparently it's hard to find; I was lucky enough to get it from eBay last year for just a few dollars. It wasn't advertised as an SMS stick in the auction, otherwise I suspect everyone would have been all over it. I have three other Beeshu sticks (2600, Turbografx, NES) and the picture in that auction didn't look like any of the ones I had, so I played my hunch and bid on it, thinking it was for the SMS, and I was right. It looks very similar to the 2600 one but has a yellow stripe across the top. I bought it specifically to use with the Sega Redemption 5200 adapter (which I still haven't gotten around to getting). If I remember sometime, I'll borrow the digital camera from my office and take a picture of it.

I just wish it were a little looser and not so stiff; I'm reluctant to open it up and mess with it.
