I'm not choosing from that list because it is missing a couple. Oh say, Final Fantasy for example.
Another day, another dollar... wake me when it's payday.

Ah, I'm going to be faithful to Mortal Kombat here. I loved both it and Annihilation... my dad is actually friends with the raiden they used in Annihilation and on a side note, I directed Van Damm's Nephew in one of my short films that some of you saw... "The Loonies." That was a thrill for me actually... lol.
Would someone actually choose Final Fantasy as their favorite movie from this bunch? Man I SO wanted to like that movie. I even watched it twice thinking the second time I would "get it". A dismal effort, IMHO.
Funny you should say that DP - I just voted for it.
To be fair I haven't seen Resident Evil yet, but I doubt it'll get the nod anyway. For some reason, despite how much I hear about how it sucks, I love that movie. It's the only VG Based movie I own on DVD.

I'm glad someone likes it! I don't think I'm bright enough to understand the plot or something. That's why the non-stop killing in Resident Evil or the chop-socky B movie plot of Mortal Kombat appeal to me so much!
Street Fighter rules (well, Kylie Minogue rules anyway)
Best: Cloak and Dagger
Worst: FF (I spent $20.00 on the DVD to watch 90 minutes of crap)
can't say which is the best
mortal kombat: yeah, cool, but mh CHEAAAP
mk2: urgh
RE: very cool, though it's not to game-based
SF2: is this the "real" movie? i haven't seen that one to be honest, but i really really like the anime
smb: so silly
tomb raider: nice, but i don't like angelina jolie
ff: mhh didn't really like it
wing commander: this one is so cool, though it's not done very good, but it's fun in my oppinion
double dragon: mh, did i see this one? don't know, so if i did, it's not even good enough to remember
When 'Max Payne' and "House of the Dead' come out... We'll talk.
The only reason I wanna see Max Payne is because it's being done buy Shawn Ryan (The Shield).
But since I'm being forced to choose... They all sucked.
Tomb Raider was only worth watching because of Angelina.
I'm a fan of Angelina... and I thought Milla looked better in RE than Angelina did in TR. The end.Originally Posted by diskoboy
I don't think the plot is necessarily thought provoking or anything. But I do think it stays true to the FF formula and I love the animation.Originally Posted by digitalpress

That'd be me. I didn't find Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within all that deep either, but I enjoyed the action sequences, I liked the characters (General Hein cracked me up), and I found the script and general storyline to be far better than I expected. There was also something refreshing about a movie that mixed a futuristic atmosphere with metaphysical themes, instead of going for the technology-heavy feel that science fiction films usually employ.
I do wish that Square had opted to make The Spirits Within a game instead of a film, though. Imagine how great it would be to explore a Phantom-infested New York City as you would an RPG dungeon . . .
What is the best videogame movie? That's funny. Kinda like the Simpson's joke that goes "what two popular characters died in the past year?" The answer, of course, is "if you picked Bleeding Gums Murphy and Dr. Marvin Monroe, you would be wrong. They were never popular."
There never has been such a thing as a good videogame movie. Some are wretched, some are lousy, and some are merely mediocre. It only helps that Hollywood's formula movies are so terrible in their own right. That said, Final Fantasy was the best of the bunch, but even that film was somewhat lifeless.

WTF? How has there been this many replies without someone mentioning the video game movie that is heads and tails above the rest? You know it, you love it... The Wizard.

Why does no one ever mention "Joy Sticks!"?
I must find this film, just to see if Joe Don Baker shoots up an arcade at the end.Originally Posted by Wavelflack

I've got it, and Mr. Baker is no Mitchell. From a "classic gamer" standpoint, it's a fantastic revisitation of the early eighties arcades. Looking at it now seems like ridiculous exaggeration of the popularity and lunacy present at those early arcades, but it really WAS like that! People really DID go fucking nuts over the sight of a new machine, etc. I love watching the arcade scenes in Tron for the same reason: Nostalgia.
Anyway, the meat of the movie is fucking ridiculous, but it an entertaining manner. It's so juvenile that you have no choice but to love it.

Do you know what game related movie totally rocked?
Street Fighter II: The animated movie.
The live action one sucked, but the animated one was sweet. There was this awesome fight scene between Vega and Chung Li in her apartment. Chung Li ended up destroying all the furniture in her apartment. Vega ended up getting Chung Li pretty bloody.
Chung Lie also pulled off a Matrix move there she runs up the wall and backflips over Vega. The best part about the whole thing was that this whole fight was occuring while Chung Li was in her Nightie.
Know what I'm talking about fellas???
The movie did a good job of incorporating all the charactors. DJ and Camie even made an appearance. If you havent seen it and are a fan of the game, I would suggest renting it.
