Any other movies based on a video game in recent months?
I liked the first Tomb Raider movie. I actually plan on buying it on DVD today AND I have it TiVo'd. It's that good. A little cheesy, but I loved it. I haven't seen the second, but the trailers made me impressed. But I can't find it less than $20. Even at DeepDiscountEVE it's $20 marked down from $30 normally. $30?? Who sells it for $30? Oh well. Maybe one day it'll be on. I'll tell TiVo to scan HBO, Max and Starz for it.

    I love my TiVo.

I haven't watched every movie based on a videogame but I've seen most of them and Mortal Kombat is the best IMO, followed buy Resident Evil, All I wanted to see was the famous hand stand in TR, all Jolie had to do was that handstand for me (filmed from behind of course, like the game ) and I would hav been satisfied with the movie but noooooo, they decided to keep the hand stand out of the movie just like in the Saturn version of TR

    tron

i remember when people actually thought that visuals would never get better than tron, it was the pinnacle of special effects in a movie,
It is pitch black. If you continue you are likely to be eaten by a grue.

    Resident Evil.

While it didn't follow any single game story line, it had that RE feel to it.

I had to go with Tomb Raider Cradle of Life. I don't think its a great movie but given the choices that's what I had to go with. It's also the newest of the movies listed so maybe their getting better. Even if it's not that much.

    I voted in Mortal Kombat.
Because the screenplay are writed by Ed Boon and John Tobias, the creators of game.

I had the CD Soundtrack of the movie.

I always enjoyed Double Dragon, which I voted for. Scott Wolf and Mark Dacascos may have had corny dialogue but they also had pretty good chemistry with each other. It reminded me a little bit of the three TMNT movies.

After that, I'd say Mortal Kombat I and II. Those and Super Mario Bros.

Super Mario Bros. I own it on Laserdisc I saw it in the theatre as a kid. I don't care that it's so very, very wrong at so many things. It's fun, damnit.

I was weak, I had to vote for Street Fighter.

It's just the single funniest movie ever made, in the thin disguise of a serious action film. Van Damme's lack of being able to pull off an American accent convincingly just seals the deal.

    Also, Zangief was spot-on.

Mortal Kombat 1 is my pick. It is the only video game movie I like. It was done very well and actually followed the plot of the original game very closely.

Now, MK 2 wasn't good, in my opinion. It was actually based on MK3, which really upset me as 2 is my favorite game and I really wanted to see a movie based on it. Plus they changed several of the original actors.

Mortal Kombat was one of the first game movies that didn't suck ass.

Resident Evil was ok, and I heard some good things about Silent Hill. Otherwise, they mainly suck.

*in prayer* Please, God. Don't let the people who are doing the Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania movies ruin them. Amen.

Gimmie a game, I'll either love it, or pimp-smack it.
