The game I'm looking for let you choose one of five different fish, and you were confronted with something and you had to choose what to do about it. Like you'd eat plankton, avoid the otter, try to eat a bug (which might be a fish hook and kill you) and see how far you could get. I think it even had a sequel that let you design your own fish for it...

They used to let us play it at school, I think it was on an Apple (the same PC we played Oregon Trail on).
