Default Rez on VGA is amazing!!!

WooHoo!! Thanks to the DP SS event, I now have the Innovation Super Game Converter for Dreamcast. And with the Super Game Converter, I can, for the first time, play Rez through my VGA Converter! I could never get things to work using Utopia, no matter what I tried.

And let me say, as great as Rez looked on my JVC 27" via S-Video, the improvement running it through VGA blows me away. I honestly believe there are extra graphical bits that are just not activated when viewing the game on a TV. Is that possible?

    It's awesome.

That's all. And now I'm going to leave you guys so I can continue exploring my newly-gotten goodies....

    ...those damn Saints....grrr.....

I thought the Super Game Converter was just for converting CONTROLLERS (PSX, Saturn)... it also functions as a VGA Box? See, I should have opened mine long ago. I don't remember it saying that on the box.

Ikaruga has similar "it looks like a different game" qualities on VGA. Unfortunately, a lot of DC games won't play through VGA hookup at all. I've already found Tetris, Sno-Cross and Bang! Gunship Elite give me "incompatible" messages. Are there others?

Anyway, glad you're enjoying REZ again. It's a cool game.

The Innovation Super Game Converter is essentially a DC-X/Utopia Boot Disc for imports. Steve-o couldn't play Rez on his VGA box because the Utopia boot disc wouldn't load Rez for some reason.

Glad to see I got the right item for DP SS

A lot of incompatible games can be "tricked" into working by plugging the VGA cable in after the game boots up.

Ah, I'm learning a lot today.

I thought the Converter you were talking about was the controller (hardware) converter. I have one of those, but not the CD.

And I shall try that trick with the VGA box! I got an X-Arcade twin stick for Christmas with the Dreamcast converter so I shall soon by stylin' (when I hook it up, that is)

Ahh...this was on my to do list for so long I forgot about it. I'll have to try that this week.

The VGA box is a thing of beauty, every DC owner should have one.

With the VGA box, where does it plug into the monitor? I run my games through a tV tuner (RCA & S-Video) onto my LCD monitor, so they look pretty good that way - but I don't see any hookups onthe monitor itself for other cables.

The VGA box converts your RCA A/V plug to a VGA 15-pin monitor (like a PC monitor) connection. You plug your DC into the box, and the box into a PC monitor. It's splendid. really.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 doesn't work with the VGA box. I know this becuase I bought it and had to play it via crappy A/V. Eventually I broke down and bought the Saturn version of the game, which has VGA output just like all other Saturn games. I think Gunbird 2 and Air Force Delta don't support the box either. Generally, a lot of early Dreamcast games, demos, and web browser discs don't support the box officially, although most can be tricked to work by turning the box off while the title loads and turning it back on when the game loads. Some games don't like this, however, and freeze up when they load a portion of the game that wasn't designed for VGA (like a CG movie).

Eh, the saturn version of A3 is far better then the dreamcast one. DC one has mucho differences from the arcade original.
