Would you have bought the PSP at its original price if it was not a media player and just played games?

No. I enjoy the games, but I bought my PSP for its MP3 and MP4 playback as a major factor too.
Egbert, I miss you...
I voted 'yes', but I certainly don't "hate" having a game system that plays movies and music. For me it's just an added bonus, just like the PS2's DVD playback abilities. It just makes the system that much more awsome, but I bought it to play games on.

Another vote for yes but I don't hate a system that has these capabilities. It is a nice plus for sure, but it factored very low in my decision to purchase it.
PSP is awesome .. so far the only preople who hate are the ones who can't afford it.
I voted Yes but "I hate music and movies on a game machine." doesnt express my opinion. I didnt care about the music or movies...I wanted the games. Im pleasently suprised though...I really like its media capabilities. I love this f-er.

I bought it just for the games...the other stuff is just an added bonus. So...yes, I guess.
No, I would not have bought the system—I like to have a bit more functionality to the things I buy. I bought an N-gage BECAUSE it was a cell phone that could play games, play MP3’s, store pictures, radio AND wireless web. When my Ngage got damaged and could not be repaired, I was forced to buy the QD version—which was stripped of all its multimedia abilities (and of it’s USB port).
Fast forward to the PSP—it’s because it has the potential to do all a lot of things besides play games that I wanted to buy it. The use of the MP3 player and movie playback from off the card and soon to be (hopefully) wireless internet connectivity—where I can check my mail and other sites (like DP) without my PC being on. If it just played games…I would have waited.
Thank you for your contribution.Originally Posted by PS2Hawk

That said, my vote would go to no (if I were voting), because I'm not too interested in any of the available games. Same went for the PS2 - it took me until well after a year of owning a Gamecube to buy it - just because I really wanted to play Contra. When that game comes along on the PSP, then I'll buy it too - it's just that the price will probably be less by then.
Who's the sucker that paid $300 for his? It's $249.99 MSRP. No, games don't count. Otherwise I paid about $2,000 for my Xbox.
I perfer only games for my game machines. I really could care less about movie and music playback, considering I have already spent high $$ amounts for those things respectivily.
And the cost would have been lower too.
Well, in Canada the MSRP IS $300 CDN without any game...Originally Posted by petewhitley

i never thought id use the media functions, but theyre pretty cool. I bought it on gaming mainly due to the fact of a new resident evil for it (see the new EGM)
How would not including movie and music playback functionality have lowered the cost of the PSP?Originally Posted by NintendoMan

I voted yes on this one. I certainly dont hate the fact that it does what it does but I dont ever really leave the house with it so all of the extras are kind of pointless. If I am not at home I am doing something so I dont really have time to play games.
TOO bloody expensive
DC--- It's STILL thinking....!!
I'm a major Tales fanboy, so Tales of Eternia alone would've justified my PSP purchase. You can't even do much with the music and movies without a bigger memory card (Which I have yet to buy,) though the extra features do interest me.
