Japanese version of Phantasy Star for the Megadrive

I'd just search the net when I discovered that there is a Japanese MD version of PS1. Most of the threads I've read says that it was released in only 1000 pcs. But I have also read that that is only a rumour. Can anyone confirm the fact? Also, possible pricetag? I'd search the completed auctions on paybay but I couldn't find anything.

All I can say is "I don't think so".

I've been into MegaDrive for a long time, never heard of this. I've been proven wrong before but I seriously doubt it. I've never even seen a ROM dump for it.

If someone knows otherwise, that's TWO of us interested in hearing about this!

it does exist and has been on ebay a few times, prices 100-200 in the auctions I have seen

man,i never thought that phantasy star was going to be on psone.who knows what else they are going to make.someday they might make a a video game/refridgerator/computer tv and everyone will not know about it.

I love the way Alis has black hair on the front cover and brown hair on the back of the box. Maybe Sega will pick a color and stick with it for the remake.

phasntasy star 1... not psOne! the megadrive game is the EXACT same game as the sms game... its the same code and everything. the cart design acts as a pass-through to use the 8-bit processor that the master convertor also uses. the genny processor isnt used at all.

Yup..it's real and EXTREMELY rare. Paul over at http://www.classicgaming.com/japangaming has had it before. It was released for the 5th or 10th anniversary of Phantasy Star 1 or something and they didn't change a thing and it's REALLY REALLY rare Expect to be raped anally for it if you decide you need it.

oh, i remember one going for the paltry sum of about $90 last year- i had this on my watchlist, but i didn't get a notification before the end of the auction! ebay e-mailed me AFTER it was over and told me i didn't win, lol!...gaaaaah...

i guess i'll settle for a phantasy star collection for the import saturn- i'll grab one of those one of these days...

You most likely won't find a ROM for it because the MD version is exactly the same as SMS version, in a MD housing for the MD/Genesis. Think a SMS version with Power Base Converter built in.

That is what I know and it could be wrong.
