Default Bad to carry psp in pocket?

i was just thinking about it, since the psp has a laser and stuff inside it, is it gonna damage it in the long run if i keep it in my pocket or backpack as im walking? also if i have it in sleep mode do you think this will cause more damage due to shaking/movement? i just realized i hope im not killing my laser as im walking around listeing to mp3s

I'd be more concerned about the screen if you kept it in there, especially if it isn't being protected by anything. In reality, a laser can be broken by more than just being in a pocket and can also be broken by far less. So while it's a concern, it isn't completely unsafe either.

yea.. the plasic on the screen would worry me.. I have gone through about 3 ipods and when I have sold them, the price is strongly based on the amount of scratches..

with the ipod, the plastic is so delicate that if you look at it funny it gets scratched, much less if you stick it in your pocket.

hopefully they will make rubber cases for the psp soon like the ones they make for the ipod.. this will help keep your screen and your psp as a whole in good shape.

Thats the worst part about the new portables.

The DS is alot better that the PSP for portablity but its still huge.

I can't imagine carrying a PSP in my pocket , would be farily uncomfortable.

Its sad , but you need a freaking "manpurse" to fully enjoy the psp :/

A friend of mine carrys his in his pocket cause he always demos it to people when he's selling in the games section at work. He basically keeps it in the little slip sleeve that came with it and also bought the face armor accessory for it so it has a flip cover over the screen like the DS. As far as the constant movement...I have no idea.

For now I will just be persistent and carry mine in my palm !

You don't have to get a "manpurse" to carry it around. There are workarounds that don't look so weird for a guy, like getting a larger CD carry case and use it for the PSP or the DS. There are also some third-party cases that might have some strap or what-not to carry it around. I know that my DS soft case (by Intec) has a carry strap and a belt loop.

I use the pelican face armor to carry my PSP in my pockets. It sticks out about a third of an inch out of my pocket but I don't mind

My DS fits in my shirt pocket of almost any shirt I own perfectly....It's thicker than the GBA, but not enough to stop it from being "pocketable."

You folks wanna talk about big, non-pocketable portables? Try the Lynx, Turboexpress, Nomad, Gamegear....there's so many. In fact, MOST portables weren't pocketable, so it is hardly this generation's alone....in fact, portables are more likely to be pocketable nowadays.

^ heck, I'd add the origional Gameboy to that list as well. I remember that it did fit in my pocket, but was extremely noticable and not very comfortable either.

I think it's ok to put your PSP in your pocket, just be sure to keep it in it's Custom Carrying Sock.

I keep my psp in my pocket, but I wouldent think about it without having the case on it, I dont wanna scratch up the screen. Its rather large to put in my pocket, but a bit thinner than the DS.

I'm thinking of getting one of those Intec PSP cases. I have the GBA SP version and it's great. But I'm all about carrying as much as possible even if it means I need to carry a suit case.

I'd be happy if I could just find a case that could carry my DS, SP AND PSP as well as 10-30 games for each. Yeah. Seriously. I want it all with me. (I rarely go out of the house anyway. If I do, it's to friends or relatives so it's not like I need to carry it on a bus or anything.)

I'm happy to say I dropped my PSP on the floor today and it didn't stop at all. Well, I'm not HAPPY, I'm just relieved it survided. It must have hit the floor flat rather than hitting on the edge. I tripped over the power cord and it went flying. I hear peoples stories of doing this with their laptops and breaking the hinge. Thankfully nothing was broken.. this time.

That said, I will now be more careful. If it had broken today, I could easily return it to my store and get a replacement (In a few months when they come in again.) but later down the road when the return time is up, I won't be able to, so carefulness is important.
