Default What is the deal with Harvest Moon 64?

Recently, this game skyrocketed in value. It is now worth about 70 bucks complete!

1.)Should I sell mine or keep mine?

2.)Is it rare, or in high demand?

I remember I got mine at a funcoland, and i had called a bunch of targets and best buys until somebody had it.
Somebody once told me to get a life.

I told them I sold it for money to buy video games.

I still have a new copy that I bought at Meijer a while back for $10. Never really had much interest in Harvest Moon though I know it has been in high demand for quite a while. I should probably go check Meijer for any other copies floating around.

The only Harvest Moon worth anything is the Snes version.. I've never even seen a copy of it in the wild.. I run into HM64 all the time for 20-35 bucks..

People pay the crazy prices because they want it soon and don't want to go outside and it was originally $60 so people rationalize the insane price by thinking that way.

This is one title that the chain stores seem to be aware of. EB charges $35 for a copy of Harvest Moon 64.

At 35, I'd buy it in a second, if only to sell it and get money to buy something else. The chain stores are pretty good about their 64 - there's really only a few games worth anything (Starcraft, New Tetris and Harvest Moon go for > 30 cart-only in my experience), so maybe they're only getting lucky with their ridiculous pricing.

The great indie video game store I always hit up (often to buy games to sell on ebay - their prices are great and they don't mind that I go straight to ebay, cuz they still made 100% over what they bought the game for!) sold a complete (open) copy of Starcraft 64 for 85 bucks the day they brought it in, so 64 stuff might have a future as collectibles.

Here's another one to add to the list of modern collectibles: Cubivore for Gamecube.
