Hi, any impressions on that DS game? Just did a quick search on it after seeing you get a piano case and all i found out was that its a rhythm game involving classical music?! Sounds interesting. Whats the gameplay style like and is it worth getting (especially considering Ouendan2 is around the corner)?
Without ever having watched the anime, some of the story is odd, but hasn't interfered with my enjoyment of the game. Gameplay is simliar to Ouendan, but I wouldn't say the game is as good as Ouendan. I've played it for about an hour or so, and just like other music games, the songs (all classical) get harder as you progress. To play, music notes drop from the top while larger black circles come from the right of the screen. Try to match it up when they meet. If you miss, it gives the music a sick sound. Here's a promo video (shows DS piano case at end):

If you have any interest in the anime, classical music or rhythm games, give it a go. It also has some fun mini-games in it too. One is a side scroller, trying to get one of the characters off the moon and back into the space capsule. Kind of Moon Patrol-ish, but with a human. Another is a Taiko no Tatsujin mini-game. The game is made by Namco-Bandai, so it is actually Taiko.
I picked this game up at MediaLand in Akiba, so I don't know where else the piano case is available.
I'll be getting Ouendan 2 on the 17th too, but if you're choosing between Nodame Cantabile and Ouendan 2, go with Ouendan 2.
EDIT: Oh yeah, picked up Kuro Poto for DS (780 yen), GT Concept Tokyo 2001 (380yen) & Rez w/Trance Vibrator (2400 yen) while I was out.
I'm not sure how I've missed this store before, but I found the store Super Potato. I heard 8-bit music and looked up to a building with Mario, Pac-Man chasing ghosts on it. This place makes me very happy. Retro Goodness everywhere. 3 floors of it. Including a retro arcade. I found many things I need to buy next week. I found Zero Wing, very happy.
Salamander and Twinbee Portables, that completes my Konami shmups collections collection (unless they do more).
Thanks for that info Brisco. It looks like it could be good. I'll probably pick up both that and Ouendan 2 as the style of music and the look gives it a completely different feel in that video.
In the mail:
Bahamut Lagoon and Breath of Fire (Super Famicom, cart only, lookin' good)

Brisco,
Nodame Cantabile looks pretty cool. Would you say the bulk of the game are the music sections or is it very story intensive? Basically I'm trying to figure out how fun it would be to someone with little to no Japanese ability.

I've recieved lots of good stuff recently.
Shin Megami Tensei and First Queen IV for PS. The First Queen games are real-time tactical RPGs. The world is huge and you have to maneuver your armies to take villages and forts. The original First Queen is on SFC and (IRC) PC88.
Hard Edge and Powerful Pro '99 Season Opener. I thought Hard Edge would have better voice acting than the notorious US version (TRAG) but it doesn't. At least it's a playable Biohazard/RE clone.

Two guidebooks for Megaten and the guide for Pixygarden.
A promotional "leisure sheet" for Ningyo no Rakuin. This is the only piece of promotional material I've seen for this game.
Two 80's anime OSTs: The Borgman Last Battle and Salamander Gofer's Ambition. Not directly game related but still nice.
